About The Role

The Lead Payroll Specialist plays a pivotal role within our finance and HR teams, responsible for managing the end-to-end payroll process for our organization. This position involves processing weekly payroll for both hourly and salaried employees, ensuring accuracy and compliance with all relevant regulations. The Lead Payroll Specialist serves as a key escalation point for complex payroll issues, providing expert guidance and resolving discrepancies efficiently. Additionally, the role encompasses conducting audits, data analysis, and payroll reconciliations, as well as posting payroll data to the HRIS WorkForceNow system. The successful candidate will utilize critical thinking to manage ad hoc projects, drive process improvements, and oversee payroll tax administration activities, ensuring timely and compliant payroll operations across multiple states.

Qualifications

- Associate or bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, or 3-4 years of relevant payroll experience

- Experience processing multi-state payroll preferred

- Proficiency in ADP and Central Reach systems

- Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook)

- Ability to meet strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

- Knowledge of federal and state payroll regulations and compliance requirements

- Ability to interpret technical instructions and handle multiple variables

- Reliable transportation and willingness to travel regionally as needed

Responsibilities

- Perform accurate and timely payroll processing for hourly and salaried employees on a weekly basis

- Utilize ADP and Central Reach systems to gather time and attendance data

- Review and process off-cycle checks as required

- Review pre-payroll reports for errors and omissions, ensuring data accuracy

- Support bi-weekly payroll processing by comparing, balancing, and researching discrepancies

- Respond promptly to administrative inquiries related to payroll

- Assist in developing, implementing, and documenting process improvements

- Analyze transactions to ensure compliance with internal policies and federal/state laws

- Partner with other departments and third-party administrators to ensure timely filing of payroll taxes and amendments

- Oversee weekly payroll tax audits and updates of payroll tax records

- Maintain adherence to internal controls, company policies, and procedures

- Stay informed about multi-state regulatory requirements and company policies
