About The Role
The Strategic Data Scientist at CoverMyMeds plays a vital role in driving the company's success through advanced analytics and data-driven insights. This position is responsible for refining value propositions and supporting key customer teams by leveraging extensive data analysis to generate actionable insights. The role emphasizes prioritizing high-value work that directly impacts commercial outcomes and enhances client satisfaction. The Strategic Data Scientist collaborates across various business units and external client teams, providing strategic recommendations based on comprehensive data analysis.
The ideal candidate is inquisitive, adaptable to dynamic environments, and skilled at translating complex data into clear, impactful stories. They will build trusted relationships with client success teams and external stakeholders by demonstrating the value of CoverMyMeds products through compelling data narratives. The role involves analyzing portfolio performance, customer needs, and market trends, applying sophisticated statistical and predictive modeling techniques to forecast outcomes and identify opportunities for improvement.
The Strategic Data Scientist will monitor ongoing portfolio health, prepare stakeholder updates, and escalate issues as necessary. They will craft concise visual presentations and reports to communicate insights effectively. Supporting complex client requests and issue escalations, they will contribute insights that inform strategic decisions related to product development, market positioning, and operational efficiencies. Developing expertise in the pharmaceutical industry and understanding the business context of supported accounts are also key components of this role.
Qualifications
- BA/BS degree or equivalent experience in data analytics, business, public health, or related field; healthcare experience strongly preferred.
- 5-7 years of experience in an analytics role within the healthcare or pharmaceutical industry.
- Strong understanding of data science methodologies including decision trees, multivariate analysis, segmentation modeling, factor analysis, regression analysis, forecasting, and machine learning.
- Experience or familiarity with statistical software such as Python, R, MATLAB, SAS, etc.
- Curious problem solver capable of quickly understanding complex data issues.
- Self-motivated team player with the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Proficiency in data mining, analysis, and deriving insights from large datasets.
- Excellent query writing, report creation, and presentation skills.
- Intermediate to advanced proficiency in SQL.
- Intermediate to advanced skills in data visualization tools such as Excel, Tableau, etc.
- Strong communication skills and ability to manage expectations effectively.

- Build and maintain trusted relationships with client success teams and external clients through compelling data storytelling.
- Deliver proactive analyses of portfolio performance, customer needs, and market trends, including industry and competitive insights.
- Apply advanced statistical and predictive modeling techniques to analyze product data, identify key drivers, and forecast future outcomes.
- Monitor the health of client portfolios, providing regular updates and business reviews to stakeholders.
- Identify opportunities to enhance product value and analytical efficiency, supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support complex client requests and issue escalations, collaborating closely with account teams to deliver solutions.
- Contribute insights that influence strategic and tactical decisions in product design, market positioning, and operational processes.
- Develop and deepen expertise in CoverMyMeds, the pharmaceutical industry, and relevant business contexts to provide relevant insights.
- Stay updated with industry trends, emerging analytics techniques, and healthcare market developments to inform analysis and recommendations.
