For our client, we are seeking a Application Engineer to join the team of a leader in the Transportation space.
This role will serve as a key technical partner to customers, helping translate needs into practical engineering solutions. You will work closely with sales, engineering, and manufacturing teams to scope projects, assess feasibility, and ensure designs are manufacturable and aligned with requirements. The position also calls for identifying risk early, supporting technical presentations, and maintaining clear project documentation throughout the customer lifecycle.
Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available
Compensation: $100,000 – $120,000 annually
Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary technical contact for customers, addressing inquiries and providing design guidance
- Lead customer discovery activities and project scoping discussions
- Support the sales team with technical proposals and material feasibility assessments
- Translate customer requirements into internal engineering documentation and specifications
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure manufacturability and compliance of product solutions
- Identify design risks and propose mitigation strategies
- Prepare customer presentations and maintain accurate project documentation
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical discipline; equivalent experience considered
- 10+ years of engineering experience in an application or design engineering role
- Experience in seat design or application engineering for automotive or heavy-equipment systems is a plus
- Familiarity with industry standards and processes such as DFMEA/PFMEA and APQP
- Strong understanding of seat manufacturing processes and ergonomics
