About The Role
We are seeking a talented Backend Engineer to join our dynamic team and contribute to the development of Riot’s flagship awareness platform. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining scalable and reliable backend systems that serve millions of learners and thousands of administrators. You will work closely with product managers, designers, and fellow engineers to ship new features end-to-end, ensuring high-quality standards and performance. As part of our team, you will leverage AI tooling extensively, integrating advanced AI models like Claude and Codex into our workflows to optimize development processes and automate routine tasks. Your work will directly impact our ability to deliver engaging, chat-based cybersecurity training and simulations to a global user base.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2+ years of experience in building backend applications in a production environment
- Proficiency with SQL and relational data modeling
- Experience with Elixir, Phoenix, PostgreSQL, or similar frameworks is a plus
- Strong understanding of cloud infrastructure, preferably AWS, and infrastructure as code using Terraform
- Hands-on experience with AI coding tools such as Claude, Codex, or similar
- Familiarity with modern frontend technologies (Vue 3, TypeScript, Tailwind CSS) is advantageous
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to research, prototype, and implement innovative solutions
- Strong communication skills in English (full professional proficiency) and native French speaker
- Based in Paris or willing to relocate to Paris
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and ship new features for Riot’s Awareness platform, ensuring scalability and reliability
- Maintain and organize the backend codebase, establishing and following coding standards
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define technical requirements and deliver solutions
- Research and prototype solutions to complex technical challenges, especially in AI integration
- Implement and optimize AI-assisted workflows, leveraging tools like Claude and Codex
- Build internal automation pipelines to improve development efficiency and product quality
- Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement improvements as needed
- Participate in code reviews, team discussions, and knowledge sharing to foster a collaborative environment
