About The Role
We are seeking a talented Backend Engineer to join Riot’s dynamic team and contribute to the development of our flagship product, Awareness. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining scalable and reliable backend systems that serve millions of learners and thousands of administrators globally. You will collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and fellow engineers to ship new features from conception to deployment, ensuring high standards of quality and performance. Your work will directly impact the effectiveness of our cybersecurity training platform, helping organizations cultivate a strong security culture. As part of our engineering team, you will also engage with AI tooling to enhance development workflows, automate processes, and solve complex technical challenges. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced, innovative environment where your contributions will have a tangible impact on global cybersecurity awareness.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2+ years of experience developing backend applications in a production environment
- Proficiency with SQL and relational data modeling
- Hands-on experience with Elixir, Phoenix, or similar frameworks is a plus
- Strong understanding of scalable system design and architecture
- Experience with cloud infrastructure, preferably AWS, Terraform, and related tools
- Familiarity with AI coding tools such as Claude Code, Codex, or similar platforms
- Excellent communication skills in English (professional proficiency); native French speaker
- Motivated by mission-driven work and passionate about cybersecurity
- Based in Paris or willing to relocate to Paris
- Ability to prioritize tasks effectively to meet deadlines without compromising quality
- Team-oriented mindset with a willingness to give and receive constructive feedback
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and deploy new features for Riot’s Awareness platform end-to-end
- Build and maintain robust, scalable backend systems that support millions of users and thousands of administrators
- Organize and improve the backend codebase, establishing and following coding standards and best practices
- Research, prototype, and pitch innovative solutions to complex technical challenges
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of new functionalities
- Utilize AI tooling daily to enhance development workflows, automate processes, and improve code quality
- Build internal automation pipelines to streamline deployment, testing, and monitoring processes
- Engage actively in code reviews, team discussions, and knowledge sharing to foster continuous improvement
- Contribute to maintaining high performance, reliability, and security standards across the platform
