Role Summary:
We are seeking a highly experienced AI Architect to help define and guide the organization's enterprise AI strategy and technical direction. This individual will partner with executive leadership, architects, data scientists, and engineering teams to design scalable AI platforms, reusable architectural patterns, and enterprise AI capabilities.
This is not a traditional AI Engineer role focused on building individual AI applications. Instead, this individual will operate at the architecture and strategy level, helping shape the AI ecosystem, establish technical standards, evaluate emerging technologies, and guide implementation teams across multiple initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Define enterprise AI architecture, strategy, and technical roadmap aligned with business priorities.
- Design scalable AI platform architectures that support multiple products, business units, and use cases.
- Establish reusable architectural patterns for LLMs, Agentic AI, RAG, MCP, vector databases, AI orchestration, and knowledge management.
- Evaluate AI technologies, frameworks, models, and platforms, recommending appropriate solutions for enterprise adoption.
- Guide engineering teams in designing secure, scalable, and maintainable AI-native applications.
- Define enterprise AI governance, model lifecycle, prompt management, evaluation frameworks, observability, and responsible AI practices.
- Collaborate with data architects, platform engineers, and product teams to ensure AI solutions integrate effectively with enterprise data platforms and business workflows.
- Drive architecture reviews, technical standards, and best practices across AI initiatives.
- Mentor architects and senior engineers while providing technical leadership on complex AI programs.
- Stay current with emerging AI technologies and identify opportunities to accelerate enterprise adoption.
Desired Experience:
- 12–15+ years of software engineering and architecture experience, including significant experience leading AI initiatives.
- Demonstrated experience designing enterprise-scale AI platforms rather than individual AI applications.
- Deep understanding of Generative AI, LLMs, Agentic AI, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), MCP, AI orchestration frameworks, and vector databases.
- Experience defining AI architecture across multiple business domains and enterprise applications.
- Strong cloud architecture experience (Azure, AWS, or GCP).
- Experience with modern AI frameworks such as LangChain, LangGraph, Semantic Kernel, AutoGen, CrewAI, or similar.
- Understanding of AI governance, security, responsible AI, evaluation frameworks, and AI observability.
- Strong executive communication skills with the ability to influence senior leadership and communicate architectural decisions clearly.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Healthcare, life sciences, or regulated industry experience.
- Experience with enterprise data platforms, metadata management, and knowledge graphs.
- Familiarity with FHIR, HL7, or healthcare interoperability standards is desirable.
- Experience building AI Centers of Excellence or enterprise AI operating models.
- Prior experience serving as a Principal Architect, Enterprise Architect, Distinguished Engineer, or Chief Architect.
Ideal Candidate:
A strategic AI technology leader who thinks beyond individual AI solutions and can design the enterprise AI ecosystem, establish reusable architectural patterns, and guide the organization's long-term AI strategy. This person should be comfortable engaging with executives, shaping technology direction, and mentoring engineering teams while remaining hands-on enough to evaluate technical tradeoffs and emerging AI capabilities.
