About The Role
The Lead AI Engineer at Capital One plays a pivotal role in designing, developing, and deploying scalable AI systems that revolutionize banking experiences. In this position, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams comprising engineers, research scientists, product managers, and technical program managers to create AI-driven products that enhance how our associates work and how our customers interact with our services. Your responsibilities will include leading the development of foundational AI components such as large language models, similarity search algorithms, and governance frameworks. You will leverage a broad array of open-source and SaaS AI technologies, including AWS Ultraclusters, Huggingface, VectorDBs, and PyTorch, to optimize system performance, scalability, and cost-efficiency. Additionally, you will contribute to shaping the technical vision and long-term roadmap of AI systems at Capital One, ensuring that the company remains a leader in responsible AI innovation. Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, AI, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related fields plus at least 4 years of experience developing AI and ML algorithms or technologies.
- Master's degree in relevant fields plus at least 2 years of experience in AI/ML development.
- Minimum of 4 years programming experience with Python, Go, Scala, or Java.
- Experience with deploying scalable AI solutions on cloud platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure.
- Strong understanding of AI model training, inference, and optimization techniques.
- Familiarity with open-source AI tools and frameworks like PyTorch, Huggingface, and Nemo Guardrails.
- Knowledge of large language models, similarity search, VectorDBs, and responsible AI governance.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Responsibilities
- Partner with multidisciplinary teams to deliver AI-powered products that improve operational workflows and customer engagement.
- Design, develop, test, and support AI software components, including foundation models, large language models, and inference engines.
- Implement and optimize AI solutions leveraging a variety of open-source and SaaS technologies.
- Innovate and apply state-of-the-art techniques to enhance the performance, scalability, and cost-efficiency of AI systems.
- Contribute to the technical vision and strategic roadmap for foundational AI systems at Capital One.
- Ensure AI systems adhere to ethical standards, governance policies, and compliance requirements.
