About the Opportunity:
The Senior Software Engineer develops and maintains borrower-facing systems within the Home Lending borrower journey. This role ensures the reliability, quality, and scalability of systems supporting loan applications, decisions, and closings. The position requires strong technical judgment to balance product impact, operational reliability, and long-term maintainability while collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver effective lending solutions.
Responsibilities:
• Develop and improve borrower-facing systems supporting Home Lending applications, decisions, and closings.
• Ensure production quality through reliability improvements, observability, and error reduction.
• Provide on-call support and participate in incident response for critical borrower-facing workflows.
• Collaborate with Product, Design, Data, Machine Learning, Servicing, and Operations teams.
• Lead technical design and implementation for multi-quarter engineering projects.
• Make technical tradeoffs that balance immediate product delivery with long-term maintainability.
• Participate in code reviews and provide technical guidance to improve team execution.
• Create and maintain technical documentation for systems, designs, and operational processes.
• Identify opportunities to improve complex production systems incrementally and sustainably.
Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Minimum 4 years of professional software engineering experience.
• Experience building and maintaining production consumer-facing web applications.
• Experience with backend or user interface engineering in production environments.
• Experience owning production systems, including operational support and incident management.
• Proven ability to independently manage and deliver multi-quarter engineering projects.
• Strong problem-solving and technical decision-making skills.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Knowledge of fintech, lending, home lending, or regulated consumer finance.
• Experience working with application funnels, borrower journeys, or customer-facing workflows.
• Ability to prioritize technical investments using metrics, product impact, and engineering judgment.
• Experience making incremental improvements to complex, high-traffic live systems.
• Ability to influence cross-functional partners through clear technical communication and sound engineering judgment.
Pay Range and Compensation Package:
• Anticipated base salary range of $166,900–$230,900 USD, varying by geographic location.
• Total compensation may include base pay, target bonuses, equity grants, and benefits.
