Full Stack Software Engineer – Java & React
- Location: Amsterdam (Hybrid)
- Rate: €105 per hour (full-time)
- Contract: Until end of December 2026 (likely extensions)
We are looking for an experienced Full Stack Software Engineer to join a high-performing product engineering team working on large-scale digital products and customer-facing technology.
This is a genuinely hands-on role where you'll work across both backend and frontend development, building high-quality software using Java and React.
You'll be joining a collaborative engineering environment where contractors are treated as integral members of the team, working alongside permanent colleagues across product development, technical design and delivery.
What you'll be doing
- Building and maintaining scalable software applications using Java and React.
- Developing clean, reusable and maintainable code.
- Working across frontend and backend services as part of a full-stack engineering team.
- Designing and implementing technical solutions based on business requirements.
- Contributing to system design and architectural decisions.
- Developing automated tests and maintaining high standards of code quality.
- Taking ownership of services through deployment and production.
- Monitoring application performance and helping resolve live incidents.
- Identifying opportunities to improve systems, processes and engineering practices.
- Working closely with Product and Engineering colleagues to deliver customer-focused solutions.
What we're looking for
- 6–7+ years' experience in software engineering.
- Strong, recent Java development experience.
- Strong hands-on React experience – ideally 2–3 years within the last five years.
- Genuine full-stack experience rather than predominantly backend development.
- Strong understanding of software development, testing and system design.
- Experience building and supporting production applications.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Experience with TypeScript and API tooling such as Postman would be advantageous.
