Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Data Platform Administration Architect to lead the architecture, administration, governance, security, and operational excellence of an enterprise cloud data platform.
The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with Databricks and Azure data services, combined with expertise in production operations, platform reliability, ITIL processes, incident/change/release management, and cloud governance.
This role will serve as the technical lead for the data platform, partnering with Engineering, Infrastructure, Security, Governance, and Business teams to ensure a secure, scalable, reliable, and highly available platform.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead administration, architecture, governance, and operational support for enterprise Databricks and Azure data platforms.
- Manage Databricks, ADLS, Azure Synapse, Azure SQL, ADF, Azure DevOps, Azure IAM, Azure Monitor, and Log Analytics.
- Own platform availability, performance, scalability, security, capacity, and cost optimization.
- Define environment strategies, platform standards, monitoring frameworks, operational procedures, and governance controls.
- Lead Incident, Problem, Change, Service Request, and Release Management processes.
- Coordinate P1/P2/P3 production incidents, including stakeholder communication, service restoration, RCA, and corrective actions.
- Manage enterprise releases including deployment planning, validation, rollback, and post-release support.
- Participate in CAB and change governance activities.
- Develop operational KPIs, SLA reporting, platform health dashboards, runbooks, and support documentation.
- Implement CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and deployment automation using Azure DevOps and related technologies.
- Ensure compliance with security, access governance, audit, SOX, and regulatory requirements.
- Drive platform modernization, automation, FinOps, operational maturity, and continuous improvement.
- Provide technical leadership and mentoring to platform engineers and administrators.
Required Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience in data platforms, cloud infrastructure, platform engineering, platform administration, or data operations.
- Strong hands-on experience administering Databricks and Azure data platforms in enterprise production environments.
- Strong expertise with Databricks, ADLS, Synapse, Azure SQL, ADF, Azure DevOps, Azure RBAC/IAM, Azure Monitor, and Log Analytics.
- Experience as a Databricks Administrator, Data Platform Administrator, Azure Platform Administrator, Platform Architect, or Platform Operations Lead.
- Strong production support experience with Incident, Change, Problem, Release, and Service Request Management.
- Experience with ServiceNow or equivalent ITSM platforms.
- Strong experience with monitoring, observability, performance tuning, capacity planning, and cost optimization.
- Experience with CI/CD, IaC, cloud governance, security, and access management.
- Strong experience handling critical production incidents and developing RCA/corrective action plans.
- Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and technical leadership skills.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field.
Preferred Qualifications
- Databricks or Microsoft Azure certifications.
- ITIL Foundation / ITIL 4 certification.
- Experience with Unity Catalog, data governance, FinOps, and regulatory compliance.
- Experience with Datadog, Splunk, Grafana, or similar observability platforms.
- Experience leading CAB/release governance forums.
- Supply chain domain experience.
- Experience supporting large-scale, multi-region enterprise data platforms.
- Experience leading cloud modernization and platform transformation initiatives.
