About the Opportunity:
The Senior Software Development Engineer designs, implements, and operates cloud-native microservices that power the organization’s shipping intelligence platform. This role owns systems throughout the full lifecycle, from architecture and development through production operations, with a strong focus on scalability, reliability, and maintainability. The position also contributes to team growth through mentorship and leverages AI-assisted development tools to improve engineering productivity and software quality.
Responsibilities:
• Design and build microservices using technologies such as Java, Spring, React, and TypeScript while minimizing technical debt and proactively addressing potential failure modes.
• Develop and operate cloud-native infrastructure on AWS using containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
• Design and optimize real-time and batch data pipelines using PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and Redis.
• Develop RESTful APIs, message queues, and event-driven workflows for service and client integrations.
• Leverage AI-assisted development tools to improve coding efficiency, software quality, and automated testing.
• Own production reliability through monitoring, incident response, troubleshooting, and root-cause remediation.
• Conduct thorough code reviews with attention to edge cases, security, reliability, and failure handling.
• Mentor engineers and provide structured technical feedback.
• Write RFCs and technical design proposals to guide engineering decisions.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable and reliable solutions.
Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of progressive software development experience, including at least 2 years building and operating production microservices.
• Hands-on experience with AWS or comparable cloud platforms, containerization, and modern deployment practices.
• Demonstrated experience using AI-assisted development tools, such as Claude Code, for software development and testing.
• Consistent track record of delivering complete, high-quality software solutions within established timelines.
• Experience mentoring engineers and providing structured technical guidance and feedback.
• Strong understanding of distributed systems, cloud-native development, and production operations.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience in logistics, shipping, transportation, or supply chain technology.
• Experience working with B2B SaaS products.
• Experience writing RFCs or technical design proposals that have been adopted and implemented.
Pay Range and Compensation Package:
• The pay range and compensation package for this role will be determined based on the candidate’s experience, skills, qualifications, location, and other relevant factors.
