The Role
We're looking for an experienced Commercial Advisor to join a Defence communications program in Canberra, providing commercial support across both the support and software support contracts for a critical high-frequency communications capability. You'll assist the Program Director on commercial matters including contract negotiations, contract advice and deliverable reviews.
This role suits someone comfortable operating across both administrative contract management and higher-level commercial strategy — you'll lead the Australian Industry Capability (AIC) implementation on the Program Director's behalf, interface directly with CASG's Materiel Procurement Branch, and support the program through a significant transition of capability into its next phase.

Key Responsibilities

- Assist the Program Director on commercial matters, including contract negotiations, contract advice and review of contract deliverables

- Provide administrative management of the contract suite

- Provide commercial support on the transition of capability from current to next-generation systems

- Lead and manage the contractor's implementation of the Australian Industry Capability (AIC) Plan on behalf of the Program Director

- Interface with CASG's Materiel Procurement Branch (MPB) to resolve and obtain endorsement on commercial matters

- Provide commercial procurement support and advice, ensuring procurement compliance is achieved and maintained within the sustainment team

- Provide commercial advice and support on identifying and managing sustainment risks

Required

- Current NV1 security clearance

- Tertiary qualifications in Contract Management or a related field, or at least 5 years' experience as a Commercial Advisor

- Understanding of ASDEFCON Support, Support Short and Strategic Materiel contracting

- Knowledge of and experience in the One Defence Capability System (ODCS)

- Strong interpersonal skills and a proven ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders

- Experience in Capability Products within a Defence and/or CASG environment highly regarded

- Understanding of technical, logistical and operational requirements in capability delivery, and relevant Defence policy, highly regarded

- Understanding of AIC requirements, policy and contractor management highly regarded

Salary
$151,740 - $156,740 (incl. Super), pro rata for the duration of this engagement
