For our client, we are seeking a Senior Applied Scientist Search & Information Retrieval to join the team of a leader in the Media space. This role will lead work at the intersection of data, AI-enabled capabilities, and scalable technology delivery. You will partner with business, technical, and operational stakeholders to build reporting, surface trends, and translate analysis into action. The position offers the opportunity to strengthen data-driven execution and help teams focus on the metrics that matter most within a Media environment.
Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available
Compensation: $137,100 – $254,700 annually
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and deploy end-to-end neural search systems
- Develop models for query understanding and document re-ranking
- Build evaluation frameworks with expert annotation and synthetic data
- Drive technical decisions on retrieval architecture and evaluation methodology
- Partner with engineering on system delivery and reliability
Qualifications
- PhD or Master's in Computer Science, AI, NLP, or a related field
- 5+ years of post-degree industry experience in production search or retrieval systems
- Publications in leading academic conferences like SIGIR, NeurIPS, ACL, EMNLP
- Proficiency in production Python and tools like PyTorch and DeepSpeed
- Hands-on experience with neural IR fundamentals and search system design
