12634-1 Senior Machine Learning Scientist- GenAI Applications
This is initially until the 31.12.2026, with the view to extend further
The rate is 125 per hour (VAT is paid on top), it is between 32 to 40 hours per week, depending on preference
2 days in the Amsterdam office
We’re looking for a Senior Machine Learning Scientist to help design and build scalable, customer-facing Generative AI applications. This role focuses on developing cutting-edge ML solutions using LLMs, recommendation systems, multimodal AI, and agent-based architectures.
You’ll work closely with ML engineers, product managers, data scientists, and cross-functional stakeholders to take models from research through production deployment, driving measurable product impact at scale.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Research, develop, fine-tune, and evaluate advanced ML and Generative AI models
- Apply state-of-the-art techniques across NLP, Computer Vision, multimodal AI, recommendation systems, and LLM architectures
- Design and execute end-to-end experimentation and research plans
- Build scalable and reusable ML frameworks with clean, production-ready code
- Analyse large datasets, define success metrics, and evaluate model performance and data quality
- Partner with ML engineers to optimise model latency, throughput, and deployment readiness
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, UX, and Analytics teams to translate business problems into ML solutions
- Contribute to technical leadership, innovation, and best practices within the team
What We’re Looking For
- Strong experience in Machine Learning, Generative AI, NLP, and/or Computer Vision
- Hands-on experience developing and deploying ML models at scale
- Experience with LLM fine-tuning, multimodal systems, recommendation engines, or agent-based architectures
- Strong coding skills in Python and familiarity with technologies such as Java, SQL, Spark, Kafka, Hadoop, or similar
- Experience working with large datasets, experimentation frameworks, optimisation, and model evaluation
- Proven ability to work cross-functionally in product-focused ML environments
- MSc + 3+ years of relevant industry experience OR PhD + 2+ years of relevant experience
- Degree in Computer Science, AI, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or another quantitative field
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
Nice to Have
- Publications, patents, open-source contributions, or notable research work
- Experience building customer-facing AI products
- Experience mentoring or leading technical initiatives
