About The Role
HCLSoftware is seeking a highly skilled Security Engineer to join our Office of the CISO team. This role is pivotal in building, deploying, and managing security controls that safeguard our enterprise and cloud infrastructure. As a Security Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and implementing security solutions that ensure robust protection across our digital landscape. This position emphasizes hands-on configuration, coding, and integration work, with a focus on end-to-end ownership of security platforms—from initial deployment and tuning to automation and ongoing operational health.
You will collaborate closely with Security Operations Center (SOC), Vulnerability Management, IT, and Cloud Engineering teams to enhance our security posture continuously. Your efforts will contribute to making our security environment more resilient, automated, and measurable. The role offers an exciting opportunity to work on diverse security domains, including cloud security, infrastructure, automation, and AI security, within a dynamic and innovative organization.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess over five years of experience in security engineering, infrastructure security, or related technical roles with a demonstrated ability to own and operate enterprise security platforms end-to-end. Strong expertise in cloud security, including experience with major cloud providers such as AWS, Azure, or GCP, is essential. Candidates should have practical scripting skills in languages like Python, PowerShell, or Go, and be comfortable working with vendor APIs for automation purposes.
A solid understanding of operating system internals, networking fundamentals, and identity protocols such as SAML, OIDC, and OAuth is required. Experience with infrastructure as code (IaC) and version-controlled configuration workflows is highly desirable. Troubleshooting skills are critical, enabling you to isolate root causes in complex environments efficiently. Certifications like AWS, Azure, GCP security certifications, CISSP, or equivalent are advantageous but not mandatory.
Responsibilities
As a Security Engineer at HCLSoftware, your responsibilities will encompass a broad spectrum of security domains:
- Deploy, configure, and maintain core security platforms, including Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR), email security, secure service edge, cloud security posture management, and identity controls.
- Design security control rollouts that address coverage gaps, handle exceptions, optimize performance, and facilitate rollback procedures.
- Integrate security tools with SIEM and SOAR platforms to ensure telemetry is actionable and response workflows are effective.
- Monitor control health, including agent coverage, policy compliance, enforcement success, and silent failure detection.
- Implement and uphold security guardrails across cloud environments such as AWS, Azure, and GCP, including policy enforcement, posture monitoring, and remediation workflows.
- Develop and maintain hardened baseline configurations for operating systems, containers, and cloud services aligned with industry benchmarks like CIS.
- Engineer secrets management, key lifecycle, and certificate controls in collaboration with platform teams to ensure confidentiality and integrity.
- Support secure network design, including segmentation, egress control, and remote access configurations.
- Automate repetitive security operations tasks through scripting, APIs, and infrastructure as code, promoting repeatability and consistency.
- Establish integrations between security, IT, and engineering systems to enable seamless data flow and reduce manual interventions.
- Create comprehensive documentation and runbooks to facilitate operational continuity and knowledge sharing.
- Support incident response efforts by implementing rapid control changes, containment measures, and forensic data collection.
- Partner with Vulnerability Management to engineer scalable remediation processes, moving beyond individual ticket handling.
- Participate in on-call rotations to address high-severity incidents and platform issues promptly.
- Contribute to audit and compliance activities by collecting and maintaining control evidence.
- Implement security guardrails for internal AI and machine learning systems, including protections against prompt injection, model poisoning, and data exfiltration.
- Maintain and secure enterprise AI infrastructure, ensuring secure configurations for Agentic AI and model serving environments.
- Develop automation workflows leveraging AI/ML for security operations such as automated incident triage and investigation.
- Monitor AI tool usage for governance compliance, and stay updated on emerging threats targeting AI systems, adapting controls accordingly.
