## About the Role
Max AI is seeking an **AI Engineer** to build, experiment with, and evaluate **AI agents and machine learning models** focused on **Natural Language Processing (NLP), medical coding, medical billing, and healthcare revenue cycle management**.
This role offers broad product ownership and close collaboration with a small, high-impact team, including Operations and customers. The ideal candidate brings strong production experience in **ML, AI, data science, NLP, and Large Language Models (LLMs)** and is comfortable working in an agile, iterative environment.
## Key Responsibilities
* Build, experiment with, and evaluate **AI agents and ML models** in the NLP domain
* Improve the accuracy of **medical coding, medical billing, and revenue cycle management**
* Develop and contribute to internal AI frameworks that enable the creation of AI agents and machine learning models
* Collaborate closely with a small, high-impact AI and engineering team
* Work directly with Operations teams and customers to identify opportunities and drive meaningful product improvements
* Take ownership of technical and product challenges across the organization rather than working in isolated silos
* Work within an agile, iterative development process with clear accountability
* Interact regularly with customers to help continuously improve the product and meet customer needs
## Required Qualifications
* **6+ years of experience in ML, AI, or data science in a production environment**
* Strong experience with **ML and NLP Python packages**, including:
* TensorFlow
* PyTorch
* scikit-learn
* Transformers
* Hugging Face models and related tools
* Strong expertise in **Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and Natural Language Processing (NLP)**
* Experience with NLP concepts including:
* Text preprocessing
* Embeddings
* Transformer-based models
* Experience working with **Large Language Models (LLMs)**
* Experience with **supervised fine-tuning**
* Experience using AI frameworks
* Experience evaluating **LLM performance**
* Strong communication skills
