## About the Role
Hack The Box is seeking a **Data Analyst** to serve as the analytical engine behind important client relationships, using data to demonstrate the ROI of its cybersecurity training platform. This role combines **SQL, Python, data analysis, data visualization, and executive-level storytelling** to uncover how cybersecurity training affects human risk and translate complex datasets into actionable insights.
The role sits on the **Federal Sales team**, reporting to the SVP of Global Federal & SLED, and works closely with Account Executives, BDRs, Solutions Engineers, Customer Success, Product, and Data Engineering. The successful candidate will be comfortable working with complex datasets, presenting findings to senior stakeholders, and using data to support client success and cybersecurity outcomes.
## Key Responsibilities
- Partner with Federal agency stakeholders to translate compliance and security needs into data-driven success plans.
- Translate USG leadership business requirements into technical data solutions.
- Use SQL and Python to extract and analyze large datasets.
- Model and communicate the ROI of cybersecurity training by analyzing relationships between training engagement and security outcomes.
- Build interactive **Looker and Tableau dashboards** and presentations for executive and operational audiences.
- Analyze user behavior and simulation logs to identify high-risk cohorts.
- Provide tailored recommendations to clients to optimize training curricula based on engagement signals, including completion velocity, adoption, and drop-off.
- Audit training telemetry from the platform through the reporting layer to maintain data hygiene and integrity.
- Use Python and SQL for rapid prototyping of risk models.
- Conduct ad-hoc and "what-if" analysis for client presentations.
- Participate in Executive Business Reviews (EBRs) to discuss client progress and future direction.
- Partner with Product and Data Engineering to ensure platform telemetry supports evolving reporting needs.
- Manage stakeholder expectations across diverse departments.
## Required Qualifications
- Expert-level **SQL** skills for querying complex relational databases.
- Experience using **Python** for data cleaning, automation, and statistical analysis.
- Strong data manipulation and analytical skills, including the ability to translate raw data into useful insights for executives.
- Strong proficiency with **Looker or another data visualization tool** for creating executive dashboards and operational reports.
- High proficiency in **Excel**, including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs, and modeling.
- Strong verbal communication skills and the ability to explain technical data clearly and persuasively to senior leaders.
- Strong presentation and data storytelling skills.
- Ability to build cohesive presentations that explain both data findings and their business or risk implications.
- Stakeholder management skills, including the ability to manage expectations across diverse departments.
- Ability to analyze customer success metrics such as churn, adoption, engagement funnels, and learning outcomes.
