About The Role
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Accountant/Bookkeeper to manage the financial records for our US-based multi-entity portfolio. This role is pivotal in maintaining accurate, compliant, and well-organized financial data across various related companies. The successful candidate will take full ownership of the accounting cycle, including transaction recording, reconciliations, and financial reporting, ensuring that all records are audit-ready and aligned with US GAAP standards. This position offers a growth trajectory towards a team lead role, where you will oversee standardization processes and potentially manage a small finance team as the company expands. You will work closely with the founder and external CPA, acting as the key finance point of contact for all accounting-related matters.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of three years of hands-on experience in US-based bookkeeping or accounting, preferably within multi-entity structures. Proficiency in QuickBooks Online is essential, along with a solid understanding of US GAAP and small-business accounting practices. Candidates should have experience managing intercompany transactions, reconciliations, and month-end closing processes. Educational qualifications can include CA, CA Inter, CMA, B.Com, or M.Com, with practical US client experience being more important than formal credentials. Strong written and verbal communication skills in English are required, as most interactions are asynchronous. Knowledge of workflow tools such as Bill.com, Gusto, or Ramp is a plus, as is familiarity with payroll, sales tax, and US-specific filings like 1099s.
Responsibilities
- Manage full-cycle bookkeeping for multiple related US entities, including accounts payable, receivable, bank and credit-card reconciliations.
- Record and maintain intercompany transactions, ensuring due-to/due-from balances are accurate, reconciled, and properly documented.
- Prepare and process bill payments through our approval workflow, collaborating with the founder for approvals and releases.
- Track receivables, monitor aging reports, and follow up on overdue accounts.
- Perform month-end closing activities and prepare financial statements for each entity, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Identify and flag discrepancies, mis-codings, missing documentation, or unbalanced accounts, proactively resolving issues.
- Coordinate with external US CPA during month-end and year-end processes to ensure compliance and accurate reporting.
- Develop and document Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), standardize chart of accounts across entities, and train junior support staff as needed.
Benefits
- Competitive salary range of ₹7,00,000 – ₹10,00,000 per annum, with scope for review as responsibilities grow.
- Direct access to the founder, providing a transparent and collaborative work environment.
- Clear growth pathways into senior finance roles with team management responsibilities.
- Flexible, fully remote working arrangement initially, transitioning to a hybrid model from Ahmedabad.
- Opportunities for professional development through exposure to US accounting practices and cross-functional collaboration.
