About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled BackEnd Software Engineer (Experienced or Senior) to join our Model-Based Engineering (MBE) software team based in Berkeley, Missouri. This pivotal role focuses on developing and leading the creation of prototypes and capabilities for web applications and services that support Boeing Defense Services (BDS). As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for designing APIs, developing data-processing pipelines, and optimizing database queries to ensure scalable, reliable, and high-performance systems. Your expertise will help transition innovative prototypes into fully operational, production-ready solutions.

Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a strong educational background in engineering, computer science, or related fields, along with extensive experience in backend software development. An active U.S. Secret Security Clearance is required, with the ability to obtain Special Program Access. Candidates should have at least five years of experience in Java, Spring, Oracle SQL, SQL Server, and other server-side languages like Go or Python. Familiarity with Agile development methodologies, cloud infrastructure (AWS), containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and modern architectural principles such as microservices and event-driven systems is essential. Preferred qualifications include a top-secret clearance, experience with large-scale distributed systems, and proficiency with frontend frameworks like NodeJS and ReactJS.
Responsibilities
- Lead the architecture, development, documentation, and maintenance of efficient, innovative software processes, tools, and methodologies to streamline the software lifecycle, including continuous integration, delivery, and deployment of safety-critical applications.
- Provide technical oversight across multiple systems, guiding teams in designing and operating production-ready solutions that meet stringent industry and customer standards.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and seek innovative solutions to address current and future challenges in aerospace software development.
- Mentor and develop engineers at all levels, fostering a collaborative environment that emphasizes learning and growth.
- Manage projects from inception to deployment with minimal supervision, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to quality standards.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to shape system architecture, define requirements, and implement scalable web applications and services.
- Build and expand infrastructure components for multi-application communication, logging, alerts, authentication, and configuration management.
- Create comprehensive test suites to verify system reliability, performance, and behavior under various conditions.
- Engage in architectural discussions, influence product roadmaps, and take ownership of key projects and initiatives.
- Research and implement current and emerging technologies, tools, frameworks, and regulatory changes relevant to aerospace software systems.
- Oversee code reviews and ensure compliance with coding standards, requirements, and security protocols.
- Interface with users and stakeholders to define solutions that meet operational needs and technical specifications.
- Resolve complex technical issues, drive system innovations, and enhance system resilience and scalability.
