We are conducting a search for a a Director of Tax to join the finance leadership team of an established organization with a significant domestic and international presence.

This is a broad, hands-on tax leadership opportunity for someone who enjoys both the technical and strategic sides of tax. The Director will have responsibility across tax reporting and compliance while also supporting planning initiatives, business changes, and other complex matters.

The ideal candidate will be technically strong enough to get into the details, when necessary, while also possessing the judgment and business acumen to advise leadership and work effectively with outside professionals. THIS IS ROLE IS MOSTLY REMOTE AND WOULD ONLY REQUIRE 2 DAYS A MONTH IN OFFICE!

Director of Tax Key Responsibilities

- Provide leadership and oversight across the organization's corporate tax function.

- Manage the preparation and review of federal, state, and international tax compliance.

- Oversee the quarterly and annual income tax accounting process and related financial reporting.

- Review tax calculations, account reconciliations, estimates, and supporting documentation for accuracy and completeness.

- Partner with outside tax professionals and internal finance teams to ensure reporting and filing requirements are completed accurately and on time.

- Research technical tax matters and evaluate the impact of regulatory or legislative changes on the organization.

- Provide guidance to business and finance leaders on tax-related questions and emerging issues.

- Support tax planning associated with organizational changes, investments, transactions, and other strategic initiatives.

- Assist with the tax implications of international business activity and movement of funds across jurisdictions.

- Provide oversight of intercompany tax matters and related documentation.

- Manage federal, state, and international tax examinations and respond to inquiries from taxing authorities.

- Oversee additional tax filings and compliance requirements outside of income tax.

- Maintain strong relationships with external auditors, advisors, and other third parties.

- Identify opportunities to improve tax processes, controls, technology, and overall efficiency.

- Participate in special projects and cross-functional initiatives impacting the broader organization.

Tax Director Experience Requirements:

- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is required.

- At least 10 years of progressive corporate tax experience, including work in both public accounting and a multinational corporate environment.

- Demonstrated expertise in U.S. and international tax planning, legal entity structuring, transfer pricing, cross-border transactions, or M& A-related tax matters.

- Proven experience preparing and reviewing federal corporate income tax returns, international reporting forms, and state income or franchise tax filings.

- Strong hands-on background in income tax provision preparation and review under ASC 740 for domestic and international operations.

- Familiarity with corporate tax technology platforms such as Corptax, OneSource, or similar tax compliance and provision systems is preferred.

- Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work effectively across all levels of the organization.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel, along with strong organizational skills in a fast-moving business environment.
