HR Generalist
Role Overview
The HR Generalist will be responsible for supporting day-to-day HR operations across the Malaysia office while partnering closely with business leaders and regional HR teams. This role covers recruitment coordination, onboarding, employee relations, HR administration, performance management, engagement initiatives, payroll coordination, compliance, and HR projects.
The ideal candidate enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, is highly organized, people-oriented, and passionate about building scalable HR practices.
Key Responsibilities
HR Operations
- Manage the full employee lifecycle from onboarding to offboarding.
- Maintain accurate employee records and HR documentation.
- Administer employment contracts, confirmation letters, promotions, transfers, and other HR documentation.
- Ensure HRIS data is accurate and up to date.
- Support HR reporting and analytics.
Recruitment & Onboarding
- Partner with the Talent Acquisition team on interview scheduling and onboarding activities.
- Coordinate new hire documentation and orientation.
- Ensure a seamless onboarding experience for all new employees.
- Support employer branding and campus recruitment initiatives when required.
Employee Relations
- Serve as the first point of contact for employee HR queries.
- Support managers on employee relations matters including performance, attendance, disciplinary issues, and grievances.
- Foster a positive and inclusive workplace culture.
- Support employee engagement activities and company events.
Performance & Talent Management
- Coordinate performance review cycles.
- Track probation reviews and employee confirmations.
- Support learning and development initiatives.
- Assist in succession planning and talent development programs.
Payroll & Benefits Administration
- Prepare monthly payroll inputs for payroll processing.
- Coordinate with Finance and payroll vendors to ensure timely salary processing.
- Administer employee benefits, insurance, leave management, and statutory submissions.
- Handle employee claims and reimbursement administration.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology, or a related discipline.
- 3–6 years of HR Generalist experience.
- Experience in fintech, technology, financial services, or startup environments is preferred.
- Good knowledge of Malaysian Employment Act and HR best practices.
- Experience with payroll coordination and HRIS systems.
- Strong understanding of recruitment, employee relations, and HR operations.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting regional HR operations is an advantage.
- Exposure to performance management and talent development programs.
- Familiarity with HR analytics and reporting.
- Experience working with outsourced payroll vendors.
- Professional HR certification (e.g., CIPD, SHRM, or equivalent) is a plus.
