Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Civil Construction Estimator to prepare accurate and competitive estimates for private and public construction projects. The ideal candidate will have strong experience reviewing construction plans and specifications, preparing detailed bids, working with subcontractors and vendors, and using construction estimating software.
Key Responsibilities
- Review construction drawings, specifications, and project documents to develop accurate estimates and proposals.
- Prepare detailed cost estimates and bid packages for civil construction projects.
- Use estimating tools such as HeavyBid, Bluebeam, PlanSwift, and Microsoft Excel.
- Identify project risks, scope changes, discrepancies, and potential cost-saving opportunities.
- Obtain and negotiate pricing with subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors.
- Manage estimates from initial bid preparation through final cost control.
- Work closely with Project Managers, clients, subcontractors, and other stakeholders regarding project scope and budgets.
- Track project costs, budgets, and variances using spreadsheets and construction management software.
- Prepare detailed bid breakdowns, schedules, assumptions, and supporting documentation.
- Monitor material costs, construction trends, and estimating practices to improve accuracy and efficiency.
Qualifications
- Previous experience as a Civil Construction Estimator or in a similar estimating role.
- Strong ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and technical documents.
- Experience with HeavyBid, Bluebeam, PlanSwift, or similar estimating software.
- Strong knowledge of construction costs, materials, subcontractor pricing, and construction processes.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience working with subcontractors, suppliers, vendors, and clients.
- Understanding of construction contracts, project management, and cost-control processes.
- Strong analytical, negotiation, communication, and organizational skills.
- Practical knowledge of construction site operations and safety practices.
