Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented Legal Assistant to support a Litigation Supervising Attorney in a rapidly growing Plaintiff’s Personal Injury practice. The Legal Assistant will assist with case management, legal research, document preparation, client-related matters, court filings, and administrative responsibilities to ensure efficient, timely, and high-quality service to clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with editing drop letters and letters to MIA clients.
- Process LOEs and LOPs for case managers.
- Support case management when the supervising attorney is unavailable.
- Scan, file, organize, and maintain legal documents.
- Assist with statute of limitations (SOL) filings.
- Research and investigate court rules and policies.
- Run reports and provide the attorney with KPI data, including 180-day SOL reports and Filevine status reports.
- Support all aspects of Minors Compromise matters, including:
- Calendar hearing dates and sign up for remote hearings.
- Communicate with parents of minors throughout the process.
- Coordinate with banks regarding funds.
- File Minors Compromise documents and request extensions when necessary.
- Create and maintain databases of courts.
- Monitor court schedules and probate notes.
- Request documents and address rejected filings.
- Re-file rejected documents as needed.
- Prepare amended petitions.
- Create and assemble exhibits.
- Answer phones and assist with meetings, lunches, and other administrative needs.
- Perform additional case management and administrative duties as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year of experience as a Personal Injury Legal Assistant.
- Fluent in Spanish and English.
- Knowledge of legal terminology and procedures.
- Strong clerical and organizational skills.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple tasks effectively.
- Ability to sit and stand for extended periods.
- Ability to lift up to 35 pounds.
