Drywall Superintendent – Commercial, Retail & Restaurant Construction
Location: Houston, TX
Compensation: $90k – $120k Base + Bonus & Benefits
A top General Contractor specializing in ground up commercial, retail and restaurant projects, is looking to hire an experienced Drywall Superintendent to join its construction team in Houston.
This position is specifically suited to a Superintendent with a strong background in commercial drywall construction who can take ownership of field operations, coordinate crews and subcontractors, maintain schedules, and ensure projects are delivered safely and to a high standard.
The successful candidate will have hands-on knowledge of drywall construction and the ability to effectively manage day-to-day site operations in a fast-paced commercial construction environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage day-to-day field operations for commercial drywall projects.
- Coordinate drywall crews, subcontractors, vendors, and other trades.
- Oversee drywall installation, framing, finishing, and associated scopes of work.
- Review project drawings, specifications, schedules, and scope requirements.
- Monitor project progress against the construction schedule and identify potential delays.
- Coordinate manpower and materials to maintain production requirements.
- Conduct regular site inspections to ensure workmanship meets project and company standards.
- Maintain a safe and organized jobsite and enforce all applicable safety requirements.
- Work closely with Project Managers and other members of the project team.
- Coordinate with other trades to resolve sequencing, access, and installation conflicts.
- Identify field issues early and assist in developing practical solutions.
- Maintain accurate daily reports and project documentation.
- Assist with punch-list completion and project closeout.
Requirements
- Previous experience working as a Drywall Superintendent or Superintendent overseeing significant commercial drywall scopes.
- Strong knowledge of commercial drywall construction methods and sequencing.
- Experience with metal stud framing, drywall installation, finishing, and related interior construction scopes.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, plans, and specifications.
- Proven experience managing field crews and subcontractors.
- Strong understanding of construction schedules and jobsite coordination.
- Ability to identify problems and make effective field decisions.
- Strong communication, organization, and leadership skills.
