🚨 Backend Software Engineer | Defense Tech | $40M Series A | Rosslyn, Arlington, VA
U.S. citizens / Green Card holders only — no visa sponsorship or other visa status
I’m hiring for a fast-growing defense tech startup building mission-critical software for the U.S. military.
They’re replacing legacy logistics systems — think whiteboards and magnetic tiles — with modern, AI-enabled software that gives military commanders a real-time view of supplies, equipment, transportation, and sustainment.
The role
Looking for a Backend Software Engineer with 2–8 years' experience, ideally strong in Go, to build production systems powering routing, dispatch, shipment execution, dynamic replanning, and distributed logistics.
You’ll work on:
- Event-driven and distributed systems
- Service architecture, messaging & state reconciliation
- Real-time logistics and supply-chain workflows
- Optimization/planning systems
- Production infrastructure from architecture through deployment and operations
Why this one is interesting:
- 💰 Recently raised $40M Series A
- 📈 Tripled in size since early 2025
- 🎯 Already deployed with U.S. Army, Marine Corps & Air Force
- 🧠Build genuinely hard distributed systems + logistics software
- 🚀 Early-stage team where engineers have serious ownership and architectural influence
Tech: Go, C++/Java/Rust, PostgreSQL, distributed systems, event-driven architecture, APIs, messaging, cloud infrastructure, OR-Tools & Gurobi.
Ideal background includes backend/distributed systems engineering plus experience in logistics, transportation, routing, fulfillment, fleet management, warehousing, freight, or supply chain.
If you're interested in building software where the problems are genuinely consequential — and want ownership, speed, and direct exposure to real military users — DM me for details.
