Sourcing Manager

TalentBridge is partnered with an established and growing manufacturer to identify a Sourcing Manager to lead strategic sourcing initiatives and supplier management across the organization.
This individual will play an important role in developing the company's sourcing strategy as the business continues to grow. The position will have responsibility for a broad supplier base and will work closely with manufacturing, engineering and supply chain leadership to ensure the organization has the right suppliers, commercial agreements and sourcing strategies in place to support both current production and future growth.
We're looking for someone who has operated beyond traditional purchasing and understands the bigger picture of strategic sourcing within a manufacturing environment. This person should be comfortable evaluating suppliers, negotiating commercial agreements, identifying cost-reduction opportunities, understanding supply and capacity risks, and developing sourcing strategies that balance cost, quality, delivery and long-term business requirements.
Responsibilities
- Lead strategic sourcing activities across multiple areas of spend within a manufacturing organization.
- Develop category and supplier strategies based on current requirements and anticipated business growth.
- Evaluate the existing supply base and identify opportunities for new suppliers, consolidation, dual sourcing or supplier development.
- Lead supplier selection, commercial negotiations and ongoing supplier-management activities.
- Identify and execute cost-reduction opportunities through negotiations, sourcing changes, market analysis and other strategic initiatives.
- Evaluate supplier capacity, performance and business risk to ensure continuity of supply.
- Partner with Engineering, Operations and Quality when sourcing new components, evaluating suppliers or addressing supplier-related issues.
- Develop meaningful metrics to track sourcing performance, supplier performance and cost improvement.
- Improve sourcing processes and tools as the organization continues to grow and mature.
- Stay informed of commodity pricing, market conditions and other factors that could impact material cost or availability.
- Lead and develop members of the sourcing team while creating greater consistency and accountability across the function.
- Work closely with Supply Chain and business leadership on longer-term sourcing priorities and initiatives.
Experience
- 7+ years of progressive sourcing, procurement or supply chain experience, preferably within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Strong strategic sourcing experience with demonstrated responsibility for supplier selection, negotiations and supplier management.
- Experience developing category strategies and managing significant areas of direct or indirect spend.
- Track record of identifying and delivering measurable cost improvements.
- Strong understanding of supplier capacity, performance, quality and supply-chain risk.
- Experience negotiating pricing, commercial terms and supplier agreements.
- Ability to work effectively with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Finance and senior leadership.
- Previous experience leading or developing sourcing/procurement professionals.
- Strong analytical, communication and negotiation skills.
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business or a related discipline preferred.
- Ability to travel periodically as business needs require.
