What We Are Looking For
We are looking for a strong all-round Software Developer who combines application development with good database and data modelling experience. This is a hands-on engineering position rather than a Data Science or ML research role.
- 3+ years' commercial software development experience
- Strong development experience with Python or a similar modern language
- Excellent SQL and relational database knowledge
- Experience with PostgreSQL, SQL Server or similar databases
- Practical experience designing database schemas and application data models
- Strong experience developing APIs and system integrations
- Understanding of data structures, ingestion and transformation
- Experience working with Azure or another major cloud platform
- Good understanding of Git, CI/CD and modern software development practices
- Ability to translate business requirements into practical technical solutions
Responsibilities
- Design and develop AI-enabled business applications and supporting backend services
- Build integrations connecting AI platforms, databases and internal business systems
- Develop solutions incorporating AI agents, workflows and AI-assisted processes
- Design and maintain the relational data models and database structures underpinning applications
- Work with technical leads and architects to develop scalable application and AI architecture
- Build and support data ingestion, transformation and integration pipelines
- Ensure application data is secure, reliable, maintainable and appropriately governed
- Take applications through development, testing, deployment, monitoring and optimisation
- Participate in technical design, architecture discussions and code reviews
- Work closely with development, AI, operations and business teams
Nice to Have
- Commercial experience building Generative AI / LLM applications
- Knowledge of RAG architectures, embeddings and vector databases
- Experience with AI agents and orchestration frameworks
- Exposure to Azure AI Foundry
- Experience with Microsoft Power Platform or Dataverse
- Understanding of data governance, security and data lifecycle management
- Experience taking AI solutions from proof-of-concept through to production
