Senior Test Engineer (SQL Database) | Contract Role

Stelfox is partnering with a leading Dublin-based organisation seeking an experienced Senior Test Engineer (SQL Database) to join a large-scale technology programme on a long-term contract basis.
Please Note: This is not a pure Automation Test Engineer role. We are specifically looking for candidates with strong hands-on experience in:
- SQL query writing and analysis
- Database testing and data validation
- ETL, data migration, and data quality testing
- Understanding of data flows and data integrity processes
Key Responsibilities
- Lead test planning, test design, execution, and defect management activities
- Perform end-to-end ETL, data migration, data conversion, and data quality testing
- Design and execute comprehensive test cases and test scenarios
- Validate large data sets using complex SQL queries and database testing techniques
- Collaborate with development, production support, change management, and business teams
- Drive QA delivery across multiple releases and project workstreams
- Develop and maintain test plans, test scripts, and traceability documentation
- Work across Agile and Waterfall delivery environments
- Support continuous improvements in quality assurance practices and testing processes
- Contribute to automation and AI-enabled testing initiatives where appropriate
Required Experience
- 5+ years of hands-on Software Testing and Quality Assurance experience
- Strong SQL skills, including writing complex queries and data validation
- Proven experience in database testing and data quality verification
- Extensive experience with ETL Testing, Data Migration Testing, and Data Conversion Testing
- Experience managing end-to-end testing cycles and defect reporting
- Strong understanding of test methodologies, test design techniques, and QA best practices
- Experience working within Agile software delivery teams
- Familiarity with Unix/Linux environments
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
Nice to Have
- Experience with automation testing tools such as Playwright, Tosca, or similar
- Exposure to AI-assisted testing tools and technologies, including GitHub Copilot
- Experience supporting enterprise-scale data transformation programmes
