Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Labor & Employment Attorney to provide legal advice and support on a broad range of labor and employment matters. The attorney will partner with business leaders, HR, Employee Relations, Labor Relations, and outside counsel to provide practical and strategic guidance on workplace and employment-related issues.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience in labor and employment law, labor relations, collective bargaining, arbitration, and employment litigation, with the ability to independently manage multiple matters and work effectively with senior leadership.

Key Responsibilities

- Provide legal advice and counsel on a broad range of labor and employment matters.

- Advise business leaders and HR on employment laws, regulations, policies, and employee relations matters.

- Provide guidance on FMLA, ADA, ADEA, Title VII, USERRA, OSHA, WARN, and other federal, state, and local employment laws.

- Advise on labor matters under the Railway Labor Act (RLA), including collective bargaining agreements, representation disputes, major and minor disputes, and concerted activities.

- Support collective bargaining and labor negotiations with unions and labor organizations.

- Serve as lead counsel in labor arbitrations and administrative proceedings before federal, state, and local agencies.

- Conduct legal research and prepare legal memoranda, position statements, post-hearing briefs, and other legal documents.

- Manage employment litigation, arbitration, and other legal matters in partnership with outside counsel.

- Work closely with HR, Employee Relations, Labor Relations, and other internal departments on employment and workplace issues.

- Provide training and guidance to managers and leaders regarding employment law, labor relations, and compliance.

- Monitor changes in labor and employment laws and advise the organization on potential business impact.

- Manage multiple legal matters simultaneously while meeting deadlines and maintaining confidentiality.

- Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

- Active license and membership in good standing with at least one U.S. State Bar.

- Mid-level experience practicing labor and employment law in a law firm or corporate/in-house legal department.

- Strong knowledge of federal and state labor and employment laws.

- Experience with labor arbitration, employment litigation, or administrative proceedings.

- Experience working with collective bargaining agreements and labor relations.

- Strong written, verbal, analytical, and negotiation skills.

- Ability to provide practical legal advice to business leaders and internal stakeholders.

- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience with the Railway Labor Act (RLA).

- Experience supporting unionized workforces and labor organizations.

- Experience with collective bargaining and labor negotiations.

- Experience representing employers in labor arbitrations.

- Experience working with transportation, airline, railroad, or other highly regulated industries.

- Previous in-house counsel experience is a plus.
