## About the Role
Accenture Federal Services is seeking a QA Automation Engineer to design, develop, and maintain automated testing solutions that validate the functionality, performance, and security of software applications.
The role will focus on transitioning manual testing efforts into efficient and scalable automated test suites integrated into deployment pipelines. You will collaborate closely with developers, product managers, and QA professionals to identify defects early and help deliver reliable, high-quality software.
This is primarily a remote position, with occasional travel potentially required to client locations in the DMV area.
### Key Responsibilities
* Design and develop maintainable automated test scripts for web applications and backend APIs.
* Build and scale automation frameworks using tools such as Playwright, Selenium, Cypress, or Cucumber.
* Analyze requirements and user stories to develop structured end-to-end test plans.
* Execute regression, functional, and smoke testing before major production releases.
* Identify, document, and track software defects with detailed reproduction steps and severity information.
* Troubleshoot test failures and determine whether issues originate from application defects or test instability.
* Collaborate in Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives.
* Integrate automated testing into CI/CD workflows.
* Support testing across frontend, backend, API, performance, and security areas.
### Required Qualifications
* 4+ years of QA experience.
* Professional experience with test automation.
* Experience programming in Python, Java, JavaScript, TypeScript, SQL, or related technologies.
* Experience with backend, frontend, and API testing.
* Strong understanding of software verification principles and the Software Testing Life Cycle (STLC).
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Excellent attention to detail when identifying regressions, edge cases, and UI issues.
### Technical Skills
* Strong programming skills in at least one major language, including Python, Java, JavaScript, or TypeScript.
* Experience leveraging AI-assisted development tools.
* Hands-on experience with Playwright, Selenium, Cypress, Cucumber, or similar automation tools.
* Experience with testing frameworks such as pytest, Jest, JUnit, or TestNG.
* Experience testing RESTful APIs using tools such as Postman, RestAssured, or Bruno.
* Ability to write basic to intermediate SQL queries for data validation.
* Strong Git command-line and branching workflow knowledge.
* Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD platforms such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or Azure DevOps.
* Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
* Hands-on experience with at least one major cloud platform, such as AWS, Azure, GCP, or OCI.
* Experience with performance testing tools such as K6, JMeter, or Gatling.
* Experience with application security testing.
