Role Description This full-time Technical Engineer (Acoustics) role is based in Dublin or Wexford (Gorey) and offered on a hybrid basis, combining office-based work with some work-from-home flexibility. Day-to-day responsibilities include performing acoustic measurements and noise/vibration assessments on site, analyzing data using industry-standard acoustic software, and preparing clear technical reports and presentations for clients and stakeholders. The role involves supporting design teams on building and environmental acoustics, contributing to planning and permitting submissions, and recommending mitigation measures for noise and vibration issues. The engineer will collaborate closely with senior consultants, project managers, and multidisciplinary teams, attend project meetings, and help ensure that all work complies with relevant standards and regulations. The position also includes opportunities for professional development, participation in research or innovation initiatives, and supporting continuous improvement of tools and methodologies within Wave Dynamics.
Qualifications
- Strong foundation in acoustics, mechanical engineering, or a related discipline, supported by a relevant degree or equivalent technical qualification.
- Experience with acoustic measurement techniques, noise and vibration monitoring equipment, and analysis using industry-standard software (e.g., sound level meters, dosimeters, acoustic modelling tools).
- Ability to interpret technical standards and regulations related to building acoustics, environmental noise, and industrial noise, and apply them in project work.
- Proficiency in data analysis, numerical modelling, and report writing, with attention to detail and the ability to communicate complex findings in a clear, concise manner.
- Effective collaboration and communication skills for working with internal teams, clients, and external stakeholders, including the ability to contribute in meetings and multidisciplinary design reviews.
- Organizational and time-management skills to handle multiple projects, meet deadlines, and work independently in a hybrid environment based in Dublin.
- Comfort with fieldwork, including site visits in different sectors (educational, healthcare, residential, industrial, environmental, pharmaceutical, transport, and power generation).
- Beneficial qualifications include professional membership or progression towards membership of relevant bodies (e.g., IOA or equivalent), experience in consultancy environments, and familiarity with Irish and EU noise
