We are looking for an experienced Full-Stack Engineer to join an agile development team working on digital solutions for a Singapore Government agency.
You will be responsible for designing and developing end-to-end applications, from modern and responsive user interfaces to scalable backend services and APIs. This is a hands-on engineering role where you will contribute to architecture and technical decisions while building secure, reliable and production-grade systems.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Design and develop modern frontend applications using Next.js, React and TypeScript, with a focus on performance, scalability and reusability.
- Build robust and scalable backend services using Java Spring Boot and/or Node.js (Express).
- Design and implement RESTful APIs and microservices following established engineering best practices.
- Develop responsive, accessible and performant user interfaces that provide a strong user experience.
- Design and implement cloud-native solutions on AWS, including serverless and containerised architectures.
- Design database schemas and data models across relational and NoSQL databases.
- Work closely with UX designers, product stakeholders and other engineers to translate business requirements into effective technical solutions.
- Define and maintain API contracts across frontend and backend systems.
- Contribute to technical architecture, engineering standards and design discussions.
- Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines to support reliable and efficient software delivery.
- Champion engineering best practices across code quality, automated testing, documentation and maintainability.
- Troubleshoot and resolve production issues across frontend and backend systems while maintaining system stability.
- Participate actively in Agile ceremonies, technical planning, code reviews and knowledge sharing.
What We’re Looking For
- 5+ years of professional software development experience, with demonstrated full-stack engineering capability.
- Strong hands-on experience with Next.js and React, including modern React patterns and state management.
- Strong proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML5 and CSS3.
- Strong hands-on experience with Java Spring Boot, including developing RESTful APIs and microservices.
- Experience with Node.js / Express for backend application development.
- Strong experience working with AWS, including services such as Lambda, ECS/EKS, RDS, EC2 and S3.
- Experience designing and working with microservices and cloud-native architectures.
- Strong SQL proficiency and experience working with both relational and NoSQL databases.
- Good understanding of software engineering principles and design patterns, including SOLID and DRY.
- Experience with frontend and backend automated testing frameworks and methodologies.
- Experience with frontend build tools, package managers and version control systems.
- Hands-on experience with CI/CD and modern software delivery practices.
- Experience working within Agile development environments.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills with good attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills and experience collaborating with cross-functional teams.
Government Environment Experience
Experience in the following areas would be highly relevant:
- Experience delivering Singapore Government IT projects.
- Hands-on experience integrating with Singpass and/or Corppass.
- Familiarity with the Singapore Government Technology Stack (SGTS).
- Experience implementing Singapore Government security policies, standards and guidelines.
- Understanding of government digital service standards and engineering best practices.
Good to Have
- AWS certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect or AWS Certified Developer.
- Experience with Kubernetes and/or Amazon EKS.
- Experience designing or working with micro-frontend architectures.
- Strong understanding of server-side rendering (SSR) and static site generation (SSG).
- Experience with messaging technologies such as Kafka or RabbitMQ.
- Experience with event-driven architectures and reactive programming.
- Experience with observability, monitoring and performance optimisation tools such as CloudWatch, ELK Stack, Prometheus or Grafana.
- Experience with GraphQL.
- Contributions to open-source projects.
