About Sobo
Sobo is building an AI-powered business operator intelligence platform designed to help small and midsized businesses identify operational challenges, uncover opportunities, and connect insights to action.
Our platform combines proprietary AI systems, business diagnostics, connected data, and expert support to help business leaders make better decisions across operations, finance, growth, technology, and organizational performance.
We are looking for an experienced Senior AI/ML Engineer to work directly with our Head of AI Product & Development and help build the full Sobo platform.
About the Role
This is a hands-on engineering role for someone who can take AI capabilities from concept and experimentation through production deployment.
You will help architect, develop, test, and scale the intelligence layer behind Sobo. Your work will include model development, data pipelines, AI agents and workflows, platform integrations, evaluation systems, production APIs, and the infrastructure required to deliver reliable AI-powered experiences to customers.
This position is well suited for an experienced builder who is comfortable operating in an early-stage environment, solving ambiguous problems, and taking meaningful ownership of technical outcomes.
What You’ll Do
- Work directly with the Head of AI Product & Development to define and execute Sobo’s technical roadmap.
- Design, develop, and improve Sobo’s AI and machine-learning capabilities.
- Build production-ready AI workflows, agents, recommendation systems, and decision-support tools.
- Develop systems that transform business and operational data into relevant, actionable insights.
- Build and maintain retrieval, inference, evaluation, and model-monitoring pipelines.
- Integrate AI capabilities with Sobo’s application, databases, APIs, and third-party business platforms.
- Improve the quality, accuracy, explainability, reliability, and security of AI-generated outputs.
- Create scalable data pipelines for structured and unstructured business information.
- Evaluate models, frameworks, and infrastructure based on performance, cost, reliability, and customer requirements.
- Translate product and business requirements into practical technical solutions.
- Write clean, maintainable, well-documented production code.
- Help establish engineering standards, testing practices, documentation, and deployment processes.
- Participate in architecture decisions and help shape the long-term technical foundation of the Sobo platform.
- Assist with the growth and development of Sobo’s future engineering team.
What We’re Looking For
- Demonstrated professional experience building and deploying AI or machine-learning systems in production.
- Strong proficiency in Python and modern AI/ML development frameworks.
- Experience with large language models, natural-language processing, generative AI, or related technologies.
- Experience developing APIs, backend services, data pipelines, and cloud-based applications.
- Understanding of retrieval-augmented generation, embeddings, vector databases, prompt engineering, model evaluation, and AI-agent workflows.
- Experience working with structured and unstructured data from multiple sources.
- Familiarity with model deployment, monitoring, versioning, testing, and MLOps practices.
- Strong understanding of software engineering principles, system architecture, databases, and secure development.
- Ability to balance experimentation with the discipline required to ship reliable production software.
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively while independently owning major technical initiatives.
- Comfort working in a fast-moving startup where priorities may evolve as the product and customer base grow.
Preferred Experience
- Experience building AI-powered B2B SaaS products.
- Experience developing multi-agent or workflow-based AI systems.
- Familiarity with financial, operational, CRM, ERP, payroll, or other business-platform data.
- Experience integrating platforms such as QuickBooks, Xero, Gusto, HubSpot, or similar systems.
- Experience with AWS or comparable cloud infrastructure.
- Experience supporting AI systems involving sensitive business or customer data.
- Previous experience in an early-stage startup or building a product from its foundational stages.
- Experience mentoring engineers or helping establish an engineering function.
What Success Looks Like
In this role, you will help turn Sobo’s product vision into a secure, scalable, and commercially viable platform. Success means shipping dependable AI capabilities, improving the quality of Sobo’s business insights, building systems that can scale with customer adoption, and creating a strong technical foundation for future product and engineering growth.
Why Join Sobo?

- Take meaningful ownership of architecture, product capabilities, and technical execution.
- Solve real operational problems for small and midsized businesses.
- Help shape the engineering culture and future technical team.
- Join an Atlanta-based company operating at the intersection of artificial intelligence, business intelligence, and expert-led execution.
