The Role
To support continued customer growth, Yuno is expanding its Heat Demand and Price forecasting capability to support our Yuno Heat / District Heating Division. This role will be based within the forward trading team who provide Demand Forecasting, Risk Management & Hedging, Energy Pricing and Forecasting services to the wider Yuno group of companies.
We welcome applications from recent graduates with a strong analytical and problem solving foundation. What matters most is curiosity about energy markets and the ability to work with rigour under time pressure. The role also requires strong Python and SQL skills to build automation, data pipelines and analytical tools, together with Git familiarity, software testing, code review and the evaluation of time-series and machine-learning models.
Typical Responsibilities
- Train as a Heat Energy Expert to support the activities of the team
- Automating the collection and reporting of primary energy consumption and heat generation data in district heating sites
- Assist the team in developing our data structures and help enable efficiencies through automation of work.
- Tracking and optimization of district heating system efficiencies
- Heat, Gas, Electricity Demand forecasting for district heating sites
- Assisting management in preparation of budgets and pricing for customers
- Assist management in creating proposals for new customers
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise:
Candidate Profile
- A degree in a relevant discipline (e.g. mathematics, physics, engineering, energy, economics, finance, computer science, data science, business or a related field).
- Strong working knowledge of Python, SQL and Power BI for data analysis, process automation and development of internal tools.
- Comfortable working with large volumes of data.
- Experience with time-series modelling and machine-learning evaluation, including appropriate backtesting and performance metrics would be helpful.
- An understanding of natural gas markets, including supply and demand fundamentals and the role of wholesale gas trading, and of the Irish electricity and gas markets more broadly.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills along with a high level of attention to detail.
- Resourceful and proactive self-starter who enjoys accountability and ownership while working collaboratively within a team.
- High level of proficiency in Microsoft Excel, with clear, concise and structured communication skills.
- Ability to follow, map and improve processes; adaptable and flexible in the face of changing priorities.
