Yuno would like to hire an experienced person to lead our Residential Pricing team within our Forward Trading Department. The residential team's objective is to continually optimise our Residential Pricing position in line with company strategy to achieve our desired market position and budgeted P&L.
The Role
The successful candidate will lead a team of pricing analysts and form the link between residential pricing and the various functions of the Forward Trading team bringing together demand forecasting, hedging & risk management, commodity pricing and forecasting. They will support team and company management in managing the profitability of our residential supply units, designing new next generation tariffs, automating and improving tools, and bringing customer consumption and insights to the forefront of our residential price offerings.
Candidates should have experience of residential or commercial energy pricing as well as having a working knowledge of commodity and energy markets. They should be able to understand the impact commodity price changes have on the profitability of our products and be able to optimise accordingly. A successful candidate would be able to price a 24hr Urban electricity customer from first principles without the use of pricing tools and have a broad understanding of the constituent parts of the cost of sales for electricity and gas. We seek natural problem solvers with strong communication skills who can take ownership and responsibility for the work of the team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide guidance to a team of pricing analysts.
- Take accountability for forecasting & reporting of profitability and Gross Profit margins for our residential portfolio.
- Bring together work from finance, commodity forecasting & modelling, hedging & risk, demand forecasting teams to support pricing and GP analysis.
- Support budgeting and related finance activities.
- Help develop pricing and risk management strategy for Residential portfolio.
- Oversee continued development of pricing tools, data and systems.
- Conduct competitor analysis and help us understand the market we operate in.
- Forecast changes in the residential market including energy consumption, behind the meter generation & storage, Smart home systems
- Work with wider team to create the next generation of residential customer products to support our continued growth.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise:
Essential
- A degree in a relevant quantitative discipline (e.g. engineering, physics, energy, economics, finance, or a related field)
- Minimum 4 years' experience in the energy market with relevant experience within pricing, P&L forecasting & reporting, commodity markets required
- Understanding of the impact that PV Generation, Heat pumps, Electric Vehicles and Batteries have on domestic energy consumption and tariff margins
- Strong working knowledge of Python, SQL and Power BI for data analysis, process automation and development of internal tools.
- An understanding of natural gas and power markets, including supply and demand fundamentals and the role of wholesale energy trading, and of the Irish electricity and gas markets more broadly.
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret market data and support commercial decision-making, along with strong problem-solving and attention to detail.
- Resourceful and proactive self-starter who enjoys accountability and ownership while working collaboratively within a team.
- High level of proficiency in Microsoft Excel, with clear, concise and structured communication skills.
- Ability to follow, map and improve processes; adaptable and flexible in the face of changing priorities.
