About the Opportunity:
We are looking for an Intercontinental Transport Control Specialist to support the daily execution and monitoring of international inbound transportation, with a primary focus on ocean freight.
In this role, you will track international shipments from origin through final delivery, identify transportation risks, coordinate with carriers and logistics partners, and support recovery actions to ensure material arrives when needed. You will work closely with Supply Chain, Material Planning, Inbound Logistics, carriers, suppliers, and logistics providers to maintain shipment visibility and quickly address transportation disruptions.
What You'll Do:
Track and monitor intercontinental ocean shipments from supplier pickup through vessel movement, port and customs activities, and final delivery.
Monitor shipments against required delivery dates and proactively identify delays or risks that could impact material availability.
Maintain accurate shipment visibility using TMS, shipment visibility platforms, carrier systems, Power BI, and operational tracking tools.
Follow up with ocean carriers, inland carriers, suppliers, consolidation centers, and logistics providers regarding shipment status and exceptions.
Coordinate recovery actions for late or at-risk shipments, including shipment prioritization, routing changes, expedited transportation, and premium freight when required.
Monitor potential disruptions such as vessel delays, port congestion, capacity constraints, customs delays, weather events, and other transportation risks.
Escalate critical shipment issues with clear information regarding impact, actions taken, and required next steps.
Support carrier performance follow-up, including milestone compliance, delayed shipments, missing updates, and corrective actions.
Monitor transportation data quality and ensure shipment milestones and tracking information are accurate and up to date.
Support transportation utilization, cost avoidance, and efforts to minimize unnecessary premium freight.
Provide clear and timely transportation updates to internal and external stakeholders.
What We're Looking For:
Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or a related field preferred; equivalent relevant experience may also be considered.
Experience in ocean freight, import logistics, transportation control, freight forwarding, carrier operations, or inbound logistics.
Experience tracking international shipments and containers across ocean, port, customs, and final-delivery milestones.
Familiarity with Transportation Management Systems (TMS), shipment visibility platforms, carrier portals, Excel, and operational reporting tools; Power BI experience is a plus.
Strong understanding of shipment tracking, carrier coordination, transportation execution, and exception management.
Ability to manage multiple time-sensitive shipments and priorities in a fast-paced operational environment.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to assess transportation risks and support effective recovery actions.
Strong communication and coordination skills when working with carriers, suppliers, freight forwarders, and cross-functional teams.
Proactive, detail-oriented working style with the ability to maintain accurate tracking and escalation information.
Flexibility to support evenings, nights, weekends, or holidays when required by operational needs.
