Location: Hull, East Yorkshire
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
Number of positions: 1

About the role

We are looking for a practical, tech-savvy Automation Specialist to help improve the way a growing multi-division business operates.

Working across multiple areas of the business and up to seven divisions, you'll look at how teams currently work, identify repetitive or inefficient processes, and find smarter ways of doing things using automation, AI and software.

A key part of the role will involve optimising and connecting the software platforms the business already uses, as well as identifying new technology that could improve the way we operate.

This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys understanding how things work, finding better solutions and actually putting those solutions into practice.

You don't need to be a senior developer or AI engineer. We're looking for someone with good practical experience, strong technical understanding and a genuine interest in AI, automation, software and business technology.

A postgraduate candidate with the right technical mindset and practical ability would be particularly well suited to this role.

What you'll be doing

- Reviewing existing business processes and identifying opportunities to improve or automate them

- Building and implementing practical automations using modern software and AI tools

- Optimising existing software platforms and workflows

- Connecting different systems so they work together more efficiently

- Identifying repetitive, time-consuming tasks that could be automated

- Using AI to reduce manual work, improve efficiency and support day-to-day operations

- Creating automated workflows between different applications and systems

- Developing and optimising CRM and lead-management processes

- Working with platforms such as GoHighLevel, Zapier and other automation tools

- Testing new AI tools, software and automation platforms and assessing where they can add value

- Helping different teams improve their workflows and remove unnecessary manual processes

- Developing practical technology solutions to real business problems

- Troubleshooting automations and improving workflows when something isn't working as expected

- Creating clear processes and documentation for new systems and workflows

- Working with different departments to understand their requirements and challenges

- Supporting the ongoing improvement of systems, processes and technology across the business

- Keeping up to date with developments in AI, automation and business software

What we're looking for

We're looking for someone who is curious, practical and technically capable.

You may already have experience in automation, software, AI, systems or process improvement, or you may be a recent graduate/postgraduate who has developed strong practical skills and is looking for an opportunity to apply them in a real business environment.

You'll ideally have:

- Experience working with automation, AI tools, software or technology-driven processes

- Practical experience with platforms such as GoHighLevel, Zapier or similar

- A strong interest in AI, automation and emerging technology

- An understanding of how technology can be used to improve business efficiency

- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills

- The ability to look at a process and think "there must be a better way of doing this"

- The ability to learn new software and platforms quickly

- Good attention to detail

- The ability to work independently and take ownership of projects

- Strong communication skills and the ability to explain technical ideas clearly to non-technical people

- Good organisation skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities

- A commercially minded approach to technology and process improvement

Qualifications & experience

- A degree or postgraduate qualification in Computer Science, AI, Data, Technology, Business Technology or a related subject would be desirable

- Postgraduate candidates with a strong interest in AI, automation, software and process optimisation are particularly encouraged to apply

- Practical experience is more important than having a specific qualification

- Experience building or managing automations is highly desirable

- Experience working with CRM, marketing automation or business-management software would be beneficial

- Candidates with a strong portfolio of personal, university or professional automation projects are encouraged to apply

Technology & software

Experience with some of the following would be beneficial:

- GoHighLevel

- Zapier

- Make

- Microsoft Power Automate

- CRM systems

- Marketing automation platforms

- Workflow automation tools

- APIs and webhooks

- Data and spreadsheet automation

- No-code and low-code platforms

You don't need experience with every platform listed above. We're more interested in your ability to understand technology, solve problems and learn new systems quickly.

Why join us?

This is an opportunity to have a genuine impact on how a growing business operates.

You'll work across multiple divisions and business functions, giving you exposure to a wide range of processes, systems and challenges.

We're looking for someone who is hands-on, curious and commercially minded — someone who wants to make technology work better for the business.

If you're the type of person who enjoys finding smarter ways to get things done, experimenting with new technology and turning ideas into working solutions, we'd like to hear from you.
