Position Overview
FULL RELOCATION AVAILABLE:
We are seeking an experienced Manufacturing Controller to lead the financial operations of a complex, high-performing manufacturing organization. This is a highly visible leadership opportunity responsible for driving financial performance, strengthening operational controls, and partnering closely with executive and operational leadership.
The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in manufacturing finance and accounting, demonstrated leadership experience, and the ability to translate financial data into actionable business decisions. A CPA or CMA designation is required.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead all financial and accounting activities for a manufacturing operation, including monthly close, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and analysis.
- Partner closely with Operations, Plant Leadership, Supply Chain, Engineering, and Executive Leadership to drive financial and operational performance.
- Provide financial oversight of manufacturing costs, labor, materials, overhead, inventory, and capital expenditures.
- Analyze manufacturing variances and develop recommendations to improve profitability, productivity, and cost efficiency.
- Establish and maintain strong internal controls and accounting policies.
- Lead the annual budgeting and long-range financial planning processes.
- Develop and monitor key financial and operational KPIs.
- Oversee inventory accounting, standard costing, cost accounting, and cycle count/physical inventory processes.
- Evaluate manufacturing performance and identify opportunities for cost reduction and process improvement.
- Provide financial analysis and business insight to senior leadership to support strategic decision-making.
- Manage and mentor accounting and finance professionals while developing a high-performing team.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, company policies, and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Partner with internal and external auditors and oversee audit processes.
- Support capital investment decisions, ROI analysis, and major operational initiatives.
- Identify financial risks and opportunities and proactively communicate findings to leadership.
- Drive continuous improvement across accounting, reporting, and financial processes.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Active CPA or CMA designation required.
- 6+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience.
- Significant experience within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong experience with cost accounting, inventory, standard costing, manufacturing variances, and operational finance.
- Previous experience leading or managing accounting/finance teams.
- Demonstrated experience with budgeting, forecasting, financial modeling, and strategic analysis.
- Strong understanding of GAAP and internal controls.
- Advanced Excel and financial reporting skills.
- Excellent communication and executive-level presentation skills.
- Proven ability to partner effectively with plant and operational leadership.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience as a Controller, Plant Controller, Division Controller, or Operations Controller within a manufacturing organization.
- Experience in a global or multi-site manufacturing environment.
- Experience within a private equity-backed or publicly traded manufacturing company.
- Experience with ERP implementations, process improvements, and financial transformation initiatives.
- MBA or advanced degree.
- Experience managing large-scale capital expenditures and operational improvement initiatives.
