Position Summary: A growing aerospace and defense engineering organization is seeking a hands-on Senior Electrical Design Engineer to lead the design and development of motors and electromagnetic devices throughout the product lifecycle. This role will support new product development and sustaining engineering, from concept and simulation through prototyping, testing, qualification, production release, and customer support.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and develop PMDC, wound-field DC, BLDC, and AC induction motors and related electromagnetic devices.
- Perform electromagnetic simulations, design trade studies, material selection, and performance analysis.
- Develop electrical architectures, winding designs, interfaces, and engineering documentation.
- Support integration of motors with drives, control electronics, sensors, and feedback systems.
- Create and maintain engineering drawings, models, BOMs, calculations, specifications, and technical documentation.
- Support prototype builds, validation and qualification testing, environmental testing, and production transition.
- Analyze test data, troubleshoot technical issues, and conduct root-cause investigations.
- Collaborate with mechanical, manufacturing, quality, test, and program teams.
- Interface with customers to resolve technical requirements and product performance issues.
- Support FMEA, reliability analysis, and continuous design improvements.
- Research new materials, technologies, and manufacturing methods to improve product performance and reliability.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electromechanical Engineering, or related field.
- 5–7 years of experience designing motors or electromagnetic products.
- Experience with motors, actuators, resolvers, synchros, or feedback devices.
- Strong understanding of electromagnetic design principles and motor topologies.
- Experience taking products from concept through release and sustaining support.
- Hands-on experience with prototyping, laboratory troubleshooting, validation, and qualification testing.
- U.S. Person status required for export-control compliance.
