We are seeking an experienced Software Engineer - Automation Tester to join a high-performing technology team working on innovative, large-scale digital payments and transaction technology.
This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong software engineer with a passion for test automation, software quality and engineering excellence to work within a highly agile environment on globally used commercial-grade technology.
The Role
You will play a key role in designing, implementing, testing and automating software components and solutions to a high standard.
You will be involved across the full software development lifecycle, helping to define effective quality strategies, contribute to architectural decisions and ensure solutions are robust, scalable and maintainable.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, document, test and automate software components and subsystems.
- Develop and implement effective test automation strategies and solutions.
- Perform functional, automation and performance testing.
- Contribute to the definition of QA processes, standards and tooling.
- Work closely with software engineering and wider technology teams in an Agile environment.
- Ensure code is maintainable and managed effectively through version control.
- Participate in architectural and technical decisions.
- Provide task estimates and assess technical complexity.
- Take ownership for delivering assigned tasks on time and to the required quality standards.
- Mentor and support junior software developers.
- Share technical knowledge and best practice across the wider team.
- Work within a continuous integration and TDD environment.
Technical Skills & Experience

- Java / J2EE
- Spring
- Hibernate
- Grails
- Angular
- PostgreSQL or similar relational databases
- Test Automation Strategy and Tools
- Functional, automation and performance testing
- Continuous Integration (CI)
- Test Driven Development (TDD)
- Application servers and web-based applications
- Agile software development environments
- Development and delivery of commercial-grade software at scale
