Finance & Controlling Product Owner / Lead – ERP
Note: The role will require someone open to spending time onsite.
Candidates who can be onsite more frequently will be highly favoured.
We are looking for business-facing Finance & Controlling Product Owners / Process Owners / Leads with 5+ years of ERP experience, ideally with experience across financial planning, controlling, reporting and accounting processes.
Purpose of the Function
This role will own the vision and value delivery for the technology products that support our Finance & Controlling function. Acting as a dedicated business partner to Finance stakeholders, the Product Owner will translate strategic business needs across financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, management reporting and controlling into a clear product vision and prioritised backlog of work.
The position will be accountable for maximising the business impact of financial technology investments by providing clear direction to delivery teams, championing a cohesive user experience, and continuously measuring the value delivered back to the business.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Actively partner with Finance, Controlling, FP&A and business stakeholders to define and champion a clear vision for financial management products and capabilities.
- Own and prioritise a unified product backlog, making clear and decisive decisions on what delivery teams should build next to maximise business value.
- Act as the steward for the end-to-end user experience across Finance and Controlling processes, ensuring systems and components integrate into a coherent and effective solution.
- Define and monitor KPIs that measure product success against financial planning, reporting, controlling and operational efficiency outcomes.
- Continuously measure and communicate the value delivered by the product to Finance and business stakeholders, using data-driven insights to guide the roadmap and future priorities.
- Develop clear user stories, features and epics that articulate business requirements, financial processes and acceptance criteria for system enhancements.
- Lead backlog refinement sessions, sprint planning and product reviews to ensure alignment between delivery teams and Finance stakeholders.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for delivery teams, providing feedback and clarification on complex financial calculations, accounting requirements, reporting logic and controlling processes.
- Collaborate with Finance SMEs, technical architects and delivery teams to identify opportunities for process improvement, automation and standardisation.
- Support the alignment of financial systems with business strategy, regulatory requirements and global Finance operating models.
Skills & Competencies
- Deep knowledge of product management principles and Agile methodologies, with a focus on value delivery and outcome-based planning.
- Strong understanding of Finance and Controlling business processes, including budgeting, forecasting, financial planning, management reporting and accounting.
- Skilled in stakeholder management, with the ability to build consensus and champion a product vision with Finance professionals and technical teams.
- Ability to own and prioritise a product backlog based on strategic value, user needs and return on investment within a Finance and Controlling context.
- Knowledge of ERP financial processes and their integration with wider business functions.
- Ability to work collaboratively and effectively within cross-functional teams and global networks.
- Demonstrated communication skills within a multicultural and multilingual global environment.

Education, Experience & Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree preferred in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Information Technology or a related field.
- Experience as a Finance Product Owner, Controlling Product Owner, Business Analyst, Process Owner or similar role, delivering technology solutions for Finance and Controlling functions. 5+ years' experience.
- Experience working with financial systems, particularly ERP platforms such as Oracle ERP / Oracle Fusion Cloud Financials. 5+ years' experience.
- Strong understanding of financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, management reporting and controlling processes.
- Proven experience owning a product backlog and working directly with development teams in an Agile environment. 3+ years' experience.
- Experience translating Finance and Controlling business requirements into functional specifications, user stories and acceptance criteria.
- Experience working with global Finance stakeholders and cross-functional technology teams.
