About The Role
The Accounting Manager owns core accounting operations for a technology business, including month-end close, technical accounting, account reconciliations, and consolidated financial reporting under US GAAP.
The role strengthens financial controls and reporting accuracy across a growing organization, partnering with finance, legal, and business teams to support SOX compliance, SEC reporting requirements, audits, and sound operating decisions. This is a remote position based in Atlanta, GA.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process, managing the close calendar, journal entries, accruals, intercompany activity, and variance analysis
- Prepare and review financial statements, management reporting packages, and supporting schedules in accordance with US GAAP
- Own balance sheet reconciliations and investigate unusual activity, aging items, and discrepancies across cash, receivables, payables, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, and accrued liabilities
- Maintain and improve accounting policies, close procedures, chart of accounts, and documentation within the ERP and financial reporting systems
- Design, operate, and test SOX controls, coordinating remediation plans and audit evidence with internal and external auditors
- Support SEC reporting, technical accounting analyses, and disclosures, including research on new accounting standards and complex transactions
- Partner with FP&A, tax, legal, and operational teams to improve data quality, automate recurring workflows, and deliver accurate reporting on schedule
What We Are Looking For
- 5-8 years of progressive accounting experience, including experience managing or leading month-end close activities
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline; CPA certification or active pursuit strongly preferred
- Strong command of US GAAP, financial statement preparation, account reconciliations, and technical accounting research
- Hands-on experience with an ERP such as NetSuite, Oracle, SAP, or Workday Financial Management, plus advanced Excel or Google Sheets skills
- Working knowledge of SOX controls, audit coordination, SEC reporting, and accounting process documentation
- Clear, disciplined communicator with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage competing deadlines in a remote environment
- Bonus: Experience with public-company accounting, SEC filings, revenue recognition under ASC 606, stock-based compensation, IPO readiness, or accounting automation and reporting tools
