Key Responsibilities
- Architect, design, develop, and evolve scalable, reliable, and fault-tolerant networking software for high-speed, low-latency interconnects.
- Deliver predictable networking performance across large-scale MPP and distributed systems.
- Evaluate and drive adoption of emerging technologies across:
- Linux operating systems
- High-performance networking
- Network adapters/NICs
- DPUs and SmartNICs
- Accelerators
- Interconnect fabrics
- Lead complex system-level debugging and root-cause analysis of customer and field issues.
- Perform SLES Linux OS crash dump analysis across hardware, firmware, operating system, and networking layers.
- Conduct targeted research initiatives and develop proof-of-concepts (POCs) to validate emerging technologies.
- Benchmark new technologies and quantify performance to guide platform architecture and technology decisions.
- Partner with product, hardware, platform, and systems engineering teams to prototype, benchmark, and productionize platform enhancements.
- Establish performance benchmarks, validation methodologies, and success metrics for networking and interconnect technologies.
- Influence platform roadmaps through knowledge of industry trends, academic research, and partner technologies.
- Provide technical leadership through:
- Architecture and design reviews
- Code reviews
- Technical discussions
- Mentoring and guidance of other engineers
- Leverage modern AI-assisted coding, analysis, debugging, and testing tools to improve development velocity, code quality, and reliability.
Required Technical Skills
- Strong experience developing HPC or large-scale distributed systems.
- Proven experience with Linux kernel and driver development using C.
- Production experience supporting Linux kernel, networking, and driver-related issues.
- Deep understanding of bare-metal and virtualized environments, including their performance tradeoffs.
- Strong expertise in:
- InfiniBand
- Ethernet
- RDMA
- RoCE
- Strong understanding of TCP/IP and UDP networking.
- Experience with Linux networking configuration, performance tuning, and diagnostic tools.
- Hands-on experience with packet-level analysis.
- Linux kernel debugging experience using tools such as:
- tcpdump
- kgdb
- crash
- Experience designing and optimizing high-throughput, low-latency data transport protocols.
- Strong knowledge of the Linux kernel, including:
- DKMS
- Driver lifecycle management
- Kernel module management
- Compatibility across multiple kernel versions
- Proficiency in:
- C
- Bash
- Python
- Experience with Massively Parallel Processing (MPP) architectures and message-passing interfaces (MPI).
- Experience using modern AI-assisted development tools for software design, coding, debugging, testing, and analysis.
