We are seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to design and develop mechanical components and assemblies for electric motor products and related electromechanical systems. This is a hands-on engineering position offering cradle-to-grave involvement in mechanical design, analysis, prototyping, testing, production support, and sustaining engineering.
The ideal candidate will bring strong mechanical design fundamentals, experience working with electric motors or related electromechanical products, and the ability to provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop mechanical components and assemblies for motors, actuators, geartrains, housings, shafts, bearings, and related electromechanical hardware
- Create and maintain 3D CAD models, detailed drawings, specifications, BOMs, and tolerance schemes
- Perform structural analysis, tolerance stack-up analysis, material and finish selection, and design for manufacturability
- Support geartrain, shafting, bearing, housing, sealing, and mechanical interface design
- Participate in FMEA, reliability analysis, and continuous product improvement efforts
- Support prototype builds, qualification testing, troubleshooting, and root-cause investigations
- Work cross-functionally with electrical engineering, manufacturing, quality, test, and other technical teams
- Support products from initial development through production release and sustaining engineering
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline
- 5+ years of relevant mechanical engineering experience
- Strong mechanical design and product development experience
- Experience with electric motors, actuators, rotating equipment, or related electromechanical products
- Experience with structural analysis and FMEA
- Strong hands-on engineering, prototyping, and troubleshooting experience
- Experience with tolerance analysis and design for manufacturability
- Ability to mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers
- Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
- U.S. Person required for export-control compliance
Preferred Experience
- Aerospace, agricultural equipment, automotive, or industrial product experience
- Geartrain, shaft, bearing, housing, and rotating equipment design
- Autodesk Inventor, Nastran, Mathcad, Ansys, or similar engineering tools
- DO-160 and/or MIL-STD-810 familiarity
- High-reliability product development, qualification, or environmental testing experience
