React Native App Developer (Contract)

Our enterprise client is looking for a React Native App Developer to build and support field/workforce mobile applications on a modern, cloud-native Azure platform.
You'll own the mobile codebase end-to-end: design, build, test, release, and support in production, working closely with product, design, and backend teams.
What you'll do:
- Design, build, and ship field and workforce apps using React Native / Expo (iOS first; Android as needed)
- Own the mobile codebase through its full lifecycle — implementation, review, testing, release, and production support
- Implement enterprise sign-in (MSAL/Entra-style) and handle session, refresh, and sign-out on-device
- Integrate with backend APIs through an API gateway
- Build within an existing design system, implementing loading, empty, error, and offline states
- Design for real field conditions: one-handed use, gloves, poor network — with clear status when APIs are slow or unavailable
- Write and maintain automated tests for critical flows; debug on physical devices
- Ship through an approved release pipeline (EAS, TestFlight, or MDM)
Must have:
- Proven track record shipping React Native (Expo preferred) apps to a store or MDM
- Strong TypeScript
- Experience with native auth flows on iOS
- Comfortable working against a REST API gateway
- Experience working within a design system and debugging on physical devices
Nice to have:
- Recent Expo experience
- Prior work on field/workforce-facing apps
- EAS / TestFlight / MDM distribution experience
- Accessibility experience
