Job Title: Senior/Principal Full Stack Software Engineer

Overview:
We are seeking a seasoned Senior Full Stack Developer to join our client’s engineering team in Markham, Ontario. This is a hands-on leadership role focused on building scalable, cloud-native enterprise applications. The ideal candidate will have deep experience in system architecture, full-stack development, and billing system integrations.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead full-stack development using NestJS, React, and TypeScript.
- Design and implement highly scalable APIs using industry best practices.
- Architect and implement cloud-native solutions on Azure, leveraging:
- Azure Container Apps
- Azure Service Bus
- Azure API Management (APIM)
- Azure SQL
- Cosmos DB
- NoSQL and Redis
- Develop and maintain microservices and event-driven architectures for distributed systems.
- Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions using Bicep, Terraform, or similar tools.
- Build and maintain containerized applications using Docker.
- Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, or similar tools.
- Ensure scalability, performance, security, and observability across distributed systems.
- Build observable applications utilizing Application Insights, monitoring, telemetry, distributed tracing, and alerting frameworks.
- Collaborate closely with product managers, architects, and DevOps teams.
- Plan and manage code merges, branching strategies, releases, and production deployments.
- Utilize feature flags and modern deployment strategies to enable rapid, low-risk product releases.
- Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership across the team.
- Work effectively in a highly agile environment, adapting quickly to evolving business requirements and priorities.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 10 years of experience in software engineering and system architecture.
- Proven experience with NestJS, React, and TypeScript.
- Experience building scalable APIs using Spring Boot and/or modern Node.js frameworks.
- Strong understanding of Azure cloud services, cloud-native architecture, and distributed system design.
- Hands-on experience with Azure Container Apps, APIM, Docker, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC), preferably using Bicep, Terraform, ARM Templates, or similar technologies.
- Strong knowledge of relational and NoSQL database design and optimization.
- Demonstrated experience with event-driven architectures and microservices.
- Strong sense of ownership and accountability with a focus on delivering production-ready software.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts and lead solution discussions.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with experience troubleshooting complex production issues.
Nice to Have
- Experience integrating with CRM platforms.
- Prior work with event-driven systems and message queues.
- Knowledge of security best practices in cloud-native applications.
- Experience with Application Insights, Log Analytics, distributed tracing, dashboards, and telemetry-driven troubleshooting.
- Experience using Agile delivery tools such as Azure DevOps or Jira.
- Familiarity with TanStack (React Query/TanStack ecosystem).
- Experience creating technical design documents, architectural proposals, and solution-option analyses.
- Experience building rules engines, pricing engines, or complex business logic platforms.
- Experience leveraging AI-assisted development tools while following security and compliance best practices.
