Job Title: Hardware Prototype & Test Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Hardware Prototype & Test Engineer to lead the testing and validation of innovative hardware products. In this role, you will build physical prototypes, perform hardware bring-up, run experiments to stress-test products and sensors, and manage test data to generate actionable insights. Responsibilities include designing and running experiments, developing and maintaining automated test applications and GUIs, prototyping and testing complex electromechanical systems, and collaborating with cross-functional engineering teams. You will also develop test systems using embedded hardware (e.g., Arduino), code in Python, design user interfaces for test monitoring, and perform root cause analysis of failures. Travel up to 20% may be required.
Requirements:
- 5+ years of hardware/software test experience with integrated systems
- Experience shipping high-volume consumer products and supporting manufacturing in Asia (willingness to travel to China)
- Hands-on prototyping of mechanical and electrical systems
- Proficiency with 3D modeling (Solidworks, ProEngineer, etc.)
- Experience with shop tools (3D printers, band saw, milling machine)
- Experience with Python or C#/WPF for test GUIs
- Familiarity with git, command line scripting, Homebrew (macOS), apt (Linux)
- Soldering, wiring, debugging, and hardware communication protocols (I2C, SPI, etc.)
- Understanding of test sequencing, data logging, and hardware automation
- PCB bring-up, debug, and rework experience
- Bachelor’s degree in EE, CE, CS, ME, or equivalent (MS preferred)
