Underwriter
Contract
Remote (CST or EST)
Pay range: $38-43hr
Must Haves:
- 3+ years of underwriting experience in the Healthcare industry (busy season cycles)
- 1–2 years with level-funded health care plans
- Experience with small group underwriting (under 200 lives)
- Ability to independently underwrite new business
- Strong analytical and technical skills
- Experience with Renewals and New Business
- Proficiency in Excel, Google Sheets, and CRM tools
- Experience using Curve, Salesforce.
- Experience working cross functionally with Sales/brokers/AMs
Preferred:
- Experience in startup or high-growth environments
- Master’s degree or professional certifications (HIA, CEBS, MHP, FLMI)
- Background in broker offices or hospital-owned systems
Job Description:
We are seeking a technically skilled Underwriter to evaluate and price its Comfort health plan and other level-funded products. This role is central to pricing integrity and growth strategy. You’ll assess group-level risk using claims data, demographics, and utilization trends, and collaborate with Sales and Product teams to refine plan designs. Ideal candidates are experienced in small group underwriting, confident with data, and comfortable in a tech-forward, fast-paced environment.
