Maintenance Technician

The Role

We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Technician to join a busy manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting preventative and predictive maintenance programmes, carrying out effective maintenance routines and repairs, and ensuring maximum availability and reliability of site equipment.

You will work closely with Operations, Engineering, Process Engineering, Facilities, contractors and equipment suppliers to minimise downtime and support the efficient running of manufacturing operations.

Key Responsibilities

- Provide maintenance support to designated manufacturing areas and ensure maximum equipment uptime.

- Carry out preventative, predictive and reactive maintenance on a wide range of manufacturing equipment.

- Respond quickly and effectively to equipment breakdowns, minimising production downtime.

- Diagnose and repair electrical, electronic, pneumatic and hydraulic faults.

- Support the Facilities team and liaise with external contractors when required.

- Contribute to reliability-centred maintenance programmes and continuous improvement initiatives.

- Support the achievement of strong MTTR (Mean Time to Repair) and MTBF (Mean Time Between Failures) performance.

- Promote continuous improvement, innovation and lean manufacturing principles.

- Support Total Asset Care and 5S programmes across manufacturing and technical areas.

- Assist with new product development and new equipment introduction projects.

- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including labour hours, spare parts, equipment downtime and repairs, using the site CMMS.

- Support the implementation and upkeep of manufacturing equipment excellence programmes.

- Ensure all maintenance activities comply with company Health & Safety, Environmental and GMP requirements.

- Ensure hazardous and non-hazardous materials are disposed of in accordance with company procedures.

- Promote safe and efficient operation of all equipment onsite.

- Ensure contractors working within areas of responsibility comply with company safety, environmental and waste management procedures.

- Provide timely updates on maintenance activities and work status to relevant maintenance and operations teams.

- Adhere to all company procedures and relevant SOPs.

Essential Qualifications & Experience

- Strong electrical and electronic repair and diagnostic skills.

- Experience in pneumatic and hydraulic fault finding and repair.

- Good understanding of robotics and automated manufacturing systems.

- Experience working with high-speed manufacturing equipment.

- Experience maintaining and troubleshooting vision systems.

- Knowledge of Windows networking.

- Some programming experience.

- Knowledge of PLCs, drives and HMIs.

- Ability to apply strong theoretical knowledge to practical maintenance situations.

- Experience working within an FDA-regulated manufacturing environment and understanding of GMP requirements.

- Previous experience working in a cleanroom environment.

- Strong computer skills.

- Third-level qualification in Automation, Mechatronics or a related discipline.

- Willingness and ability to travel for a minimum of 3 months for training.

Desirable Experience

- Previous experience using a CMMS, preferably Maximo, within a maintenance environment.

- 3–5 years' experience in an FDA-regulated manufacturing/maintenance environment.

- Experience with label printers and label placement equipment.

- Experience with FactoryTalk ProductionCentre, Rockwell or SCADA systems.
