About The Role
The Lead AI/ML Engineer (Platform, Kubeflow) will play a pivotal role in designing, developing, and deploying scalable AI infrastructure at Capital One. This position involves working closely with cross-functional teams to build robust AI platforms that support foundation model training, large language model inference, similarity search, and governance. The ideal candidate will contribute to the technical vision of foundational AI systems, optimize large-scale AI models, and introduce innovative techniques to enhance system performance, scalability, and cost-efficiency. You will be instrumental in shaping the long-term AI strategy, ensuring the deployment of responsible, high-performance AI solutions that impact millions of customers and internal stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, AI, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related fields with at least 4 years of experience in AI/ML development, or Master's degree with at least 2 years of relevant experience.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Go, Scala, or Java with a minimum of 4 years of experience.
- Experience deploying AI solutions on cloud platforms like AWS, Google Cloud, Azure, or private clouds.
- Strong understanding of AI/ML algorithms, large language models, and foundational AI systems.
- Familiarity with open-source AI tools and frameworks, including Huggingface, PyTorch, Nemo Guardrails, VectorDBs, and AWS Ultraclusters.
- Experience in optimizing training and inference software for hardware utilization, latency, throughput, and cost.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams to design and deliver AI-powered products that enhance customer and employee interactions.
- Develop, test, deploy, and support AI software components such as foundation models, large language model inference, similarity search, and governance tools.
- Implement state-of-the-art LLM optimization techniques to improve system performance, scalability, and cost-efficiency.
- Contribute to the technical roadmap and strategic vision for AI infrastructure at Capital One.
- Ensure the responsible deployment of AI models by implementing guardrails, governance, and observability mechanisms.
- Stay current with the latest AI research and integrate innovative solutions into production systems.
- Mentor junior team members and promote best practices in AI engineering and platform development.
